  • [02] Weather forecast for Cyprus Íicosia, Jan 18 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus: Friday and Saturday: 19/01/2001 to 20/01/2001 Local showers and on the Troodos mountains slight snowfalls are expected on Friday, while on Saturday the weather will be mainly fine with some patchy cloud which may give slight snowfall over Troodos. The wind will be northwest to northeast moderate, 4 BF and the state of the sea moderate. The temperature will reach the 15C inland and 17C on the coast. Around dawn it will fall to 5C inland and 7C on the coast. Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 21/01/2001 to 22/01/2001 Isolated showers are expected on Sunday afternoon, while on Monday the weather will be unstable with showers and/or thunderstorms. No significant change in temperature is expected. Sea temperature: 16C CNA/MA/2001

  • [03] Belgian State Secretary - Departure - Statements Larnaca, Jan 18 (CNA) -- Belgian State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Annemie Neyts, has said the Republic's accession negotiations with the European Union "are proceeding very smoothly and Cyprus is making really great efforts." Speaking on her departure after two days of top level meetings in Nicosia, Neyts described the state of relations between Belgium and the Cyprus Republic as "excellent" and said "we assured one another that we wanted them to stay like that and to go on."

  • [04] Italian Under-Secretary of State - Cyprus - Official visit Larnaca, Jan 18 (CNA) -- Italy's Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Umberto Ranieri has expressed the hope that talks to reach a solution to the Cyprus problem could continue and lead to a settlement in line with UN relevant resolutions. Ranieri, who arrived here today for a two-day official visit and was speaking to the press at Larnaca airport, stressed that Italy supports the Cyprus government's efforts towards accession to the European Union (EU).
