Weather forecast for Cyprus
Íicosia, Dec 28 (CNA) - The Meteorological Office at Larnaca International
Airport has issued the following weather forecast for Cyprus:
Friday and Saturday: 29/12/2000 to 30/12/2000
Relatively unstable the weather. Sunny periods changing to cloudy ones at
times with showers. The wind light to fresh at times. The temperature
between 9C min and 19 max. Over the coast and between 7C min and 17 max
inland.
Outlook for Sunday and Monday: 31/12/2000 to 01/01/2001
Continuing unstable the weather. Sunny periods changing to cloudy ones at
time with showers and over the highest peaks snowfall. The wind light to
fresh at times. The temperature between 6C min and 15 max. Over the coast
and between 7C min and 17 max inland.

UNFICYP - Abducted Greek Cypriot
Nicosia, Dec 28 (CNA) - A 40-year-old Greek Cypriot, Panicos Tsiakourmas,
abducted and detained by the illegal regime at the Turkish-occupied areas
of Cyprus since December 13 was taken back today to prison after being
examined at a hospital in the occupied part of Nicosia, UNFICYP Senior
Advisor Wlodek Cibor told CNA.
Meanwhile, his wife, two brothers and one of his children were expected to
visit him later today.

[03] House President - Euro Parliament President - Letter
Nicosia, Dec 28 (CNA) -- Cyprus House President Spyros Kyprianou has made
an urgent appeal to the President of the European Parliament Nicole
Fontaine to intervene with a view to securing the release of an illegally
detained Greek Cypriots by the Turkish occupation regime in occupied
Cyprus.
Kyprianou stressed that Turkey should be held responsible for the abduction
of Panicos Tziamourmas, pointing out that Turkey is in breach of the
European Convention of Human Rights and other international instruments to
which it is a party.

[04] Commerce and Tourism Minister - Fuel prices - Hotels
Nicosia, Dec 28 (CNA) -- Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism Nicos
Rolandis today said fuel prices are most likely to fall by 2,2 cents a
litre on Tuesday (one Cyprus pound is trading at 1,60 US dollars).
Speaking to the press after today's cabinet meeting, Rolandis said that
given the recent fall in the prices of crude oil, the formula defining fuel
prices will point to lower prices, which will take effect as from January
2.
