[02] Spokesman - Abducted Greek Cypriot - Britain
Nicosia, Dec 27 (CAN) -- The Cyprus government has ruled out any exchange
of an abducted Greek Cypriot by the Turks with a detained Turkish Cypriot
suspected of drug trafficking and stressed that any such move would
encourage the leader of the self-styled regime in the Turkish-occupied part
of the Cyprus Republic to continue its policy of abduction.
Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou also said Britain, on whose soil
Panicos Tziakourmas was taken away by Turkish occupation forces, was making
a sincere and big effort to get the man freed but noted that London can do
more and has not exhausted its possibilities. CAN MM/MAN/GG/GP/2000
