[03] Cyprus - European Court decision - Turkish Cypriot
Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government today underlined it respects
and abides with judgments of both local and international courts, its
spokesman Michalis Papapetrou has said.
The spokesman was commenting on a ruling by the European Court of Human
Rights which held that Turkish Cypriot Erkan Egmez was inhumanely ill-
treated by anti- drug police officers in Cyprus at the time of his arrest
and that his right to an effective remedy was also violated.
