    [01] Albanian Parliamentary Delegation - Meetings

    Nicosia, Dec 11 (CNA)- President of the Albanian Parliament Skender Gjinushi expressed here today the belief that now is the time to establish a permanent exchange of visits between Cyprus and Albania, on both the parliamentary and the governmental level.

    Gjinushi is heading an Albanian parliamentary delegation visiting Cyprus at the invitation of House of Representatives President Spyros Kyprianou, whom the delegation called on this morning.

    [02] Spokesman - EU - Cyprus - Turkey

    Nicosia, Dec 11 (CNA) - The government has welcomed the conclusions of the European Union summit with regard to Cyprus, pointing out they maintain the question of Cyprus in the forefront of the EU and outline what it considers to be the framework of a settlement, namely UN resolutions.

    Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou also welcomed as "very important" the EU backing for enlargement and the convergence of views on the matter, something that paves the way for future expansion.

    [04] Interior Minister - Illegal immigrants - Syria

    Nicosia, Dec 11 (CNA) -- Interior Minister Christodoulos Christodoulou said today that 30 illegal immigrants who came to Cyprus some three weeks ago have been sent back to Syria.

    Christodoulou said cooperation between the Cypriot and Syrian authorities "has payed off and Syria has responded positively", adding that "within the next 48 hours, 35 illegal immigrants who came from Lebanon are also expected to be sent back."

    [05] House President - Libya-Cyprus Friendship Group

    Nicosia, Den 11 (CNA) -- Members of a delegation of the Libya-Cyprus Friendship Group in the General People's Congress of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, who are visiting the island, today expressed their full support to a just and viable solution of the Cyprus problem based on UN resolutions.

    Speaking after a meeting with House President Spyros Kyprianou, Head of the delegation Salem Ahmed Finnir said that his country will do everything within its power to assist all the people of Cyprus to live in peace and security.
