    [01] UN envoy - Cyprus - Departure

Larnaca, Dec 6 (CNA) -- The UN Secretary - General's special adviser for Cyprus, Alvaro de Soto, left the island today saying he is planning to return next month with the hope he can "prepare for talks at the end of January or thereabout" and noting that the parametres set for the proximity talks the UN undertook last December should remain.

"We don't have a date yet, but the invitation from the Secretary - General still stands," he said. "we believe that the parametres that were set for the talks can provide for ample room and accommodation to be reached for a comprehensive settlement between the negotiators," he added.
