Nicosia, Nov 29 (CNA) -- Greek American leaders have told US foreign policy
makers that Turkey's credibility in the US has been seriously damaged after
the support it has rendered to the Turkish Cypriot side to withdraw from
the UN-led Cyprus peace effort if its conditions are not met.
The Greek American leaders described this outcome, announced in Ankara last
Friday after a top-level meeting, as "extremely destabilising for the
Eastern Mediterranean."

[02] Labour MPs - Cyprus - Turkish occupied areas - Concern
London, Nov 29 (CNA) -- Two British Labour Party MPs have expressed their
concern about the situation of human rights and press freedom in the areas
of Cyprus occupied by Turkey since 1974 and, in an Early Day Motion they
tabled in the House of Commons, call on the British government to make
representations and ask for an investigation into the matter.
"The situation in northern Cyprus is becoming more dangerous", MPs Andrew
Dismore and Andrew Love say, noting that on November 27th the printing
works where Turkish Cypriot newspaper "Avrupa" is printed was attacked and
recalling various other incidents in the Turkish occupied areas against
people opposing the regime and demonstrations and strikes due to the
economic situation.
