[01] International conference - Violence in the family
Nicosia, Nov 26 (CNA) - Cyprus has made great strides in dealing with
violence in the family but there is still a lot to be done in efforts to
prevent the problem and help change people's mentality and approach to the
exercise of violence in the family, Justice and Public Order Minister Nicos
Koshis has said.
The Minister also pointed out that Cyprus is one of the few countries that
have approved legislation on the issue and said there are continuous
efforts to train professionals, including police officers, to deal with
violence in the family.

[02] Cyprus - Singapore - Double taxation
Larnaca, Nov 26 (CNA) - Finance Minister Takis Klerides has described an
agreement for the avoidance of double taxation Cyprus has signed with
Singapore as a move that would bring the island closer to business and the
economies of the Far East.
Speaking on his return from a trip to Indonesia and Singapore, he said the
agreement for the avoidance of double taxation is "important because
Singapore is a very significant world business centre, one of the most
pivotal in the Far East."
