Nicosia, Nov 15 (CNA) - High ranking clerics from the region continue their
deliberations today behind closed doors to examine allegations of
misconduct by one of Cyprus' leading clerics, the bishop of Limassol
Athanasios.
The Major Synod, convened by the primate of the Church of Cyprus Archbishop
Chrysostomos, will be meeting twice a day and will operate as a Major Court,
following a Synod decision to that effect.

Nicosia, Nov 15 (CNA) - Cyprus came to a complete halt here today with a
five- minute work stoppage to protest the unilateral declaration of
independence by the Turkish Cypriots.
Seventeen years after the Turkish Cypriots declared their self-styled
regime, which the international community considers "legally invalid", the
people of Cyprus came out into the streets, drivers stopped their cars,
schools halted lessons and everybody stood still for five minutes.
