[03] House President - Condolences - Austria
Nicosia, Nov 13 (CNA) -- Cyprus House President Spyros Kyprianou expressed
profound sorrow with the unprecedented tragedy in the Austrian mountains,
that resulted to the death of so many people last Saturday.
In messages of condolences to the President of the Nationalrat Heinz
Fischer and President of the Bundesrat Johann Paayer, Kyprianou expressed
on behalf of all Cypriots "deepest sympathy and most sincere condolences to
the pain-stricken families of the victims and to the people of Austria as a

[05] President Clerides - Speech - Cyprus question
Nicosia, Nov 13 (CNA) -- Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides has said that
after five rounds of UN- led peace talks one can be more optimistic that
the Greek Cypriot side "can to a large extent exert its influence towards
finding a bizonal, bicommunal solution based on UN resolutions,
international law, human rights conventions and the European Union laws and
regulations".
Speaking at an event in his honour held by the Athens University of
Geoponics tonight, President Clerides underlined he will never accept a
confederation in Cyprus, said that at some stage he expects the UN to
present a draft settlement and noted that good relations between Greece and
Turkey cannot be consolidated without progress in the Cyprus issue.
