[01] UN Special Adviser - Press conference (2) FULL STORY
by Maria Myles Geneva, Nov 10 (CNA) - The Greek and Turkish Cypriot parties,
who continue to be firmly engaged in the UN-led proximity talks, may not be
thrilled about developments in the peace process but what counts is that
they should both be happy at the end of the day, once a comprehensive
settlement is reached, the UN Secretary-General's Special Adviser on Cyprus
Alvaro de Soto has said.
He clarified that earlier this week UN chief Kofi Annan put in writing
"oral remarks" and not a proposal to the parties and expressed the hope
they will reflect on the ideas put to them in the past few months and come
back with their own remarks.

[02] Government Spokesman - Cyprus talks - Statement
by Maria Myles Geneva, Nov 10 (CNA) - The UN-led peace process can continue
on more correct positions which offer better assurances to move on in the
spirit and the letter of UN resolutions, Government Spokesman Michalis
Papapetrou said here today, with regard to the ongoing peace effort the UN
have initiated last December to try and find a comprehensive settlement in
Cyprus, divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern
third.
He also stressed that the bizonal, bicommunal federation, which the Greek
Cypriot side has endorsed as the solution of the protracted Cyprus question,
is not its option but its compromise.
