    [04] Cyprus - Proximity talks

by Maria Myles Geneva, Nov 3 (CNA) -- The Greek Cypriot side did not receive today any paper the UN negotiating team in the Cyprus proximity talks may have prepared in the context of the current fifth round of talks, which got underway here Wednesday. The Greek Cypriot side however submitted a non paper on one of the core issues under discussion relating to property.

The UN team, working under the leadership of UN Secretary General's Special Adviser Alvaro de Soto, is to study the paper on property, which the National Council had prepared and will come back to it for discussion.

[05] Alvaro de Soto - Proximity talks

By Maria Myles Geneva Nov 3 (CNA) -- UN chief negotiator in the Cyprus peace talks is using the replies the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides give him on the four core issues under discussion in the proximity talks to "take on board" whatever he considers appropriate with a view to prepare a package on a comprehensive solution of the Cyprus problem.

UN Secretary General's Special Adviser on Cyprus Alvaro de Soto also said he is making headway in the peace process, in the sense that discussions are increasingly getting into more and more detail, and he expressed appreciation for the hard work the two sides are doing.
