    [01] Cyprus - Bulgaria - Taxation agreement

Nicosia, Oct 30 (CNA) -- Finance Ministers of Cyprus and Bulgaria, Takis Klerides and Mouravei Radev, today signed an Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation, which is immediately in force in Cyprus and is expected to be approved soon by the Bulgarian parliament so that it can start being applied in the country in January 2001.

Talking to reporters after the signing ceremony, Klerides said a similar agreement existed with Bulgaria for some years but in June last year Sofia asked that it is reviewed and negotiations between the two parties took place leading to an agreement that satisfies both sides.
