[02] Interior Minister - Illegal immigrants
Nicosia, Sep 30 (CNA) - Interior Minister, Christodoulos Christodoulou,
today stressed the danger of the Cypriot taxpayer having to hand out
millions of pounds to cover the costs of the 275 illegal immigrants,
guarded at Limassol Port, if Lebanon did not eventually take them back, a
possibility he said was far off.
Christodoulou said that this case and another of 30 illegal immigrants, who
intentionally broke down their boat in order to be led to the island, have
caused the government much concern.

[03] Greek Alternate Defence Minister - Cyprus
Nicosia, Sep 30 (CNA) - Greek Alternate Defence Minister, Demetrios
Apostolakis, today arrived on the island expressing his country's support
to Cyprus, both politically and in defence matters.
Speaking on his arrival at Larnaca Airport, Apostolakis said "we cooperate
on all levels" in an effort to reach a just settlement in Cyprus, divided
since 1974, when Turkey invaded and occupied the northern third of the
island.
