[03] Cyprus - New ambassador to Thailand
Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) -- King of Thailand A.M. Bhumibol Adylyadej (Rama IX)
has expressed the hope for a just settlement in Cyprus soon and reconfirmed
his country's support to the reunification of the island based on UN
decisions.
According to an official announcement issued today, the King of Thailand
was speaking at a ceremony during which he accepted the credentials of the
new Cyprus ambassador to Thailand Rea Giordamli, based in India.

[04] European Democrat Union - Cyprus - Resolution
Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) -- The European Democrat Union (EDU) has called for
meaningful negotiations for the solution of the Cyprus problem on the basis
of a bizonal, bicommunal federation as provided for in UN resolutions.
The EDU has also stressed that a solution to the island's political problem
should not constitute a precondition for its accession to the European
Union (EU).
