    President Clerides - New York - Arrival

    New York, Sep 4 (CNA) -- A fourth round of UN-led proximity talks between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides is due to begin here on September 12, but according to Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides there are no serious indications the Turkish side has changed its intransigent stance.

    Speaking on arrival here, where he will attend the UN Millennium Summit, the Cypriot President also said, replying to a question, that whether talks will continue or not will be a matter of discussion at Cyprus' National Council level, in the light of the results of this fourth round.

    Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) -- According to the Meteorological Office at Larnaca International Airport, the weather forecast for Cyprus is:

    AKEL leader - British High Commissioner

    Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) -- The main opposition leader Demetris Christofias has stressed the need to see the UN-led talks turn into substantive negotiations, noting that indications from envoys dealing with Cyprus are that their main concern is to maintain the dialogue going.

    Meanwhile, British High Commissioner Edward Clay, who met Christofias today, expressed his government's determination and commitment to contribute and support the UN process, in order to render it a success.

    [04] Cyprus minister - Hungary - Visit

    Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) -- Cyprus' Commerce, Industry and Tourism Minister Nicos Rolandis leaves tomorrow for Hungary for an official visit during which he will discuss ways to strengthen relations between the two countries.

    Rolandis, who will visit Hungary at the invitation of the country's Finance Minister Gyorgy Matolcsy, will discuss ways to strengthen relations in the fields of trade, industry and tourism.

    [05] Cyprus government - Peace talks

    Nicosia, Sep 4 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government will evaluate the situation to be created after the fourth round of UN-led peace talks, scheduled to begin on September 12 in New York, together with political party leaders and the Greek government, top government officials said today.

    Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides and Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou underlined that the Greek Cypriot side will participate in the talks in good will and any decisions taken at the end of this round of meetings will be based on the assessments reached.
