[01] Paphos Aphrodite Festival - Carmen
Nicosia, Aug 30 (CNA) - George Bizet's well-known opera "Carmen", will be
performed in Cyprus' western coastal town of Paphos, in the context of the
"Paphos Aphrodite Festival 2000" by the Albert Andre Lheureux company
between 8 and 11 September.
Paphos Mayor Fidias Sarikas told a press conference that there has been a
huge response from the public to watch the opera.

[02] Limassol - Haifa - Twinning
Nicosia, Aug 30 (CNA) - Cyprus' southern coastal town of Limassol and the
Israeli port of Haifa are to be twinned next week at a special ceremony,
with a view to enhance cooperation particularly in matters relating to
shipping.
Limassol Mayor Demetris Kontides has told CNA the official ceremony will
take place on Saturday, 9th September at the Town Hall in the presence of
outgoing Ambassador of Israel Shemi Tzur, who has delayed his departure by
a couple of days to attend the ceremony.

[03] Greenpeace - Ship - Cyprus
Limassol, Aug 30 (CNA) - The ship "MV Greenpeace" arrived last night in
this southern port of Cyprus to inform the people of Cyprus about the
latest environmental developments in the region and the ways in which the
organisation pushes forward its campaigns and what it has achieved.
The organisation includes Cyprus in its tour of the Mediterranean and has
been campaigning on the issue of the Akamas peninsula, in western Cyprus,
for a long time.
