[01] President Clerides - UN envoy - Spokesman
Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) - The Greek Cypriot side today underlined its
commitment to a federal solution and called on the Turkish Cypriot side to
honour its signature to two agreements to this end reached between the two
sides in the 1970s. Replying to press questions after a meeting between
President Glafcos Clerides and the UN chief's special adviser for Cyprus
Alvaro de Soto, Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou also expressed the
willingness of the Greek Cypriot side to discuss concrete proposals for
confidence building measures.

Nicosia, Mar 6 (CNA) -- The Cyprus government today expressed the hope
Israel's announcement of a troop withdrawal from Southern Lebanon by July
will contribute towards a settlement to the Middle East problem. Invited to
comment on the decision, Government Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said the
government considers Israel's decision "a positive move in the right
direction".
