The Foreign Minister and the head of the EU delegation in Cyprus Donato Chiarini, who also spoke to the students, underlined the role the young generation has in promoting peace and stability in the region and called on them to take advantage of programmes available. CNA MA/MCH/20001600:CYPPRESS:04 Cyprus - Lithuania - Agreements Nicosia, Feb 15 (CNA) - Cyprus and Lithuania signed here today two agreements on merchant shipping and road transport with a view to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The agreements are valid for an indefinite period of time and can be recalled in writing according to the agreed procedures. Ministers from both countries said this development could help the common goal to become members of the European Union. CNA MM/MCH/20001615:CYPPRESS:05 House - IPU - Meeting Nicosia, Feb 15 (CNA) - The Interparliamentary Union has decided to adjourn a meeting between Greek and Turkish Cypriots because the conditions for a successful outcome of the planned meeting have not all been met. Representatives of Turkish Cypriot parties demanded that IPU facilitators enter the Turkish occupied part of the island through an illegal port of entry, Tymbou airport in northern occupied Cyprus.CNA MM/MCH/20001700:CYPPRESS:06 US President - Councillor - Cyprus Problem Nicosia, Feb 15 - US President Bill Clinton has expressed the conviction that "there will be further opportunities for progress" at the Cyprus problem. In a reply letter to Councillor of London Borough of Barnet Andreas the US President also says he is encouraged "that after a hiatus of more than two years, Greek and Turkish Cypriots came to New York last December under UN auspices to restart Cyprus talks."CNA MK/MCH/20001830:CYPPRESS:07 Cyprus FM - Cyprus problem Nicosia, Feb 15 - Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides said here today the UN were not expected to prepare an overall settlement plan for the third round of proximity talks between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot sides, scheduled to resume in New York on May 23.
