    by Maria Myles

Geneva, Feb 1(CNA) - Discussions at the second round of UN-led proximity talks, currently underway, concern a solution based on federation and relate to four core issues the UN Secretary-General has defined to the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides prior to the start of the first round of talks in early December last year, well informed sources have said.

They also pointed out that any proposals or ideas the UN is likely to submit at a later stage cannot be outside the framework of UN resolutions, adding that whatever expectations existed for the second round, anticipated to end Tuesday or Wednesday next week, are still valid.
