    [01] US President - National Security Strategy - Cyprus

    Washington, Jan 5 (CNA) -- US President Bill Clinton has included the Cyprus problem and Greco-Turkish relations in his administration's international priorities.

    In a report titled "A National Security Strategy for a New Century" transmitted to Congress, the US President refers among other things to "building on hopeful developments between Greece and Turkey to make progress in the Aegean, particularly on Cyprus".

    [02] T/C pilgrims - Hala Sultan Mosque

    Nicosia, Jan 5 (CNA) -- More than one thousand Turkish Cypriot pilgrims will cross on Sunday into the government-controlled areas of the island to visit the Hala Sultan Mosque (Tekke) in the southern coastal town of Larnaca.

    Presidential Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs Takis Christopoulos told CNA some 1600 Turkish Cypriots are expected to cross the Ledra Palace check point in Nicosia early Sunday morning and will then travel by bus to Larnaca.
