Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) -- Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides today
said the European Union Helsinki summit has created a new political climate
which the Turkish side cannot ignore, even though it is early to say
whether it has affected its policy, especially towards Cyprus.
Kasoulides also said an invitation to Turkish Cypriots to participate
in Cyprus' accession negotiations still stands and underlined that the

Nicosia, Dec 22 (CNA) -- Members of three trade unions staged a two-hour
work stoppage today claiming the government is promoting a partial
abolition of the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).
The leftist Pancyprian Federation of Labour (PEO), the Democratic
Labour Federation of Cyprus (DEOK) which is affiliated to the island's
