[01] Cyprus - Netherlands - Representations

New York, Dec 5 (CNA) -- Cyprus has made representations to the
Netherlands for the statements the Dutch Foreign Minister made in Ankara
that Cyprus cannot join the European Union (EU) divided and that this
attitude cannot change.
The representations were made to the Dutch ambassador to Cyprus while
at the same time Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou made
representations to the ambassadors of the 15 EU member States accredited in
Athens.

[02] Cyprus - Proximity talks

New York, Dec, 5 (CNA) -- UN-sponsored proximity talks on Cyprus
continue Monday with a detailed analysis of the positions the Greek and
Turkish Cypriot sides outlined at their first separate meetings here with
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan with a view to find some kind of approach
between the positions set out through clarifying questions and answers to
and from both sides.
On Monday at 11.00 (New York time) the Greek Cypriot delegation led by
President Glafcos Clerides will meet with Annan at UN headquarters and at
12.15 the UN chief will see the Turkish Cypriot delegation under T/C leader
Rauf Denktash.
