    [01] Germany - New ambassador - Credentials

    Nicosia, Nov 30 (CNA) -- Germany's new ambassador to Cyprus, Peter Wittig said his country is ready to offer its assistance in preparing the ground for new ideas to enable the people of Cyprus live in peace and security.

    At the same time he said he is confident that the European Union (EU) enlargement process will positively influence the efforts for a solution to the Cyprus question.

    [02] Cyprus - Libya - New Ambassador

    Nicosia, Nov 30 (CNA) -- Libya stands for the unity of the Republic of Cyprus, its territory and its people, the country's new Ambassador to Cyprus said here today.

    Secretary (Ambassador) of the People's Bureau of the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya Khalifa Ahmed Bazelya was presenting his credentials to the President of the Republic Glafcos Clerides.

    [03] Clerides - Departure - New York

    Larnaca, Nov 30 (CNA) -- President Glafcos Clerides said although there is a hardening of the Turkish stance there is at the same time an active interest on the part of the international community to solve the Cyprus problem.

    Speaking before departing to New York via Zurich where UN-sponsored proximity talks are due to start on Friday, Clerides stressed he expects those countries which have promised to condemn publicly Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash if he continues his intransigent stance to do so.
