    [01] Greek Foreign Minister - Arrival - Statements

    Larnaca, Nov 25 (CNA) -- On his first visit to Cyprus in his capacity as Greek Foreign Minister, George Papandreou today called on everybody to work towards the vision of Greeks and Turks, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots living in peace.

    Both Papandreou and his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides, who welcomed him at the airport, underlined that there is unity and cooperation between Greece and Cyprus aiming at serving national interests.

    [02] Defence Minister - Russia - Israel

    Nicosia, Nov 25 (CNA) -- Defence Minister, Socrates Hasikos, will be visiting Moscow on December 2 to 6, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Igor Sergeyev, in order to discuss the military and political cooperation of the two countries.

    He also indirectly confirmed reports that an effort was being made to launch a military cooperation between Cyprus and Israel, but did not say whether Greece would also be involved.

    [04] Kasoulides - Papandreou - Press conference

    Nicosia, Nov 25 (CNA) -- Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou today said that whatever stance his country decides to take at next month's European Union summit regarding Turkey's candidacy, it will definitely back efforts for a settlement in Cyprus.

    At a press conference with his Cypriot counterpart Ioannis Kasoulides in Nicosia, Papandreou also said that rapprochement between Greece and Turkey cannot be achieved unless the Cyprus problem is solved, but noted this does not mean the two countries must not try to improve their relations.

    [05] Cyprus - Greece - Ocalan

    Nicosia, Nov 25 (CNA) -- Cyprus and Greece have said they are against the enforcement of the death penalty against Kurdish rebel leader Abdullah Ocalan.

    The Foreign Ministers of the two countries, Ioannis Kasoulides and George Papandreou, were invited to comment on a decision by Turkey's appeal court to uphold the death sentence against Ocalan after talks they had in Nicosia today.
