[01] UN envoy - Cyprus issue
Nicosia, Nov 18 (CNA) -- The UN has made it clear that next month's
proximity talks between the Greek and Turkish Cypriot sides will take place
on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions on Cyprus, which dictate
the UN Secretary General's good offices mission.
However, the UN also pointed out that each side at the talks can raise
any issue they wish and warned the Turkish Cypriot side that its position
(on confederation) cannot run contrary to UN resolutions.

[02] World Travel Market - London - Cyprus
Nicosia, Nov 18 (CNA) -- Representatives of the London office of the Cyprus
Tourism Organisation, (CTO) described as satisfactory the results of
Cyprus' participation in this year's World Travel Market exhibition.
They said Cyprus' stand is very impressive and inquiries by travel
agents in Britain but also from other countries as far as the USA and India
have increased.

[03] Cyprus - Parliamentarians - Visit - Israel
Nicosia, Nov 18 (CNA) -- A multi-party delegation headed by House President
Spyros Kyprianou is to pay an official visit to Israel between November 22-
25.
During the visit, which will take place at the invitation of Knesset
Speaker Avraham Burg, the Cypriot parliamentarians will be received by
Israeli President Ezer Weizman.

[04] Defence Ministers - Greece - Cyprus
Nicosia, Nov 18 (CNA) -- The latest developments on the Cyprus problem were
the subject of the discussions between the defence ministers of Greece and
Cyprus during a meeting in Athens.
Greek National Defence Minister, Akis Tsohatzopoulos stressed after
the meeting that Greece requires a commitment on the Cyprus peace talks by
the European Union (EU) to consent to Turkey's possible candidature status
at the forthcoming European Council in Helsinki, while Cypriot Defence
Minister, Socrates Hasikos said that as long as Cyprus's northern third
is occupied by Turkey, Cyprus and Greece must continue to strengthen their
defence.

[05] Cyprus - Nepal - New Ambassador
Nicosia, Nov 18 (CNA) -- Cyprus' High Commissioner to India Rea Giordamli
is the Republic's new Ambassador to Nepal.
Giordamli today presented her credentials to the King of Nepal
Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in Katmandu.
