[01] Finance Minister - Visit to Ireland
Nicosia, Nov 3 (CNA) -- Cyprus Finance Minister, Takis Klerides, departs
today for Ireland on an official visit at the invitation of his counterpart,
Charlie McCreevy, with whom he will sign a Cooperation Memorandum on
European Union matters.
Klerides will also meet with the minister in charge of science and
technology matters Noel Treacy, Deputy Prime Minister Mary Harney and other
officials, to discuss bilateral cooperation in science and technology, ways
to attract foreign investment and Cyprus' European Union accession course.

[02] Radiomarathon - Ends
Nicosia, Nov 3 (CNA) -- The annual two-day Radiomarathon charity event for
children with special needs, organised by the Cyprus Broadcasting
Corporation and the Cyprus Popular Bank, brought in funds reaching
1.300.000 pounds (1 CY pound = 2 US dollars approximately) this year.
Fifty-four booths were set up in the free areas of the island, eight
mobile cars acted as money boxes collecting contributions from remote
communities while donations were also made through the Internet.

[03] Parliament President - Holger
Nicosia, Nov 3 (CNA) -- House of Representatives President Spyros Kyprianou
today said that developments in the Cyprus problem are on hold until the
visits to Greece and Turkey by the American President and the OSCE summit
later this month.
Speaking after his first meeting with UN Acting Special Representative
James Holger, Kyprianou expressed the view that an effort will be taken for
proximity talks between the two sides in Cyprus to begin in a bid to
facilitate Turkey in acquiring a candidate status at December's European
Union summit.
