[01] UN Secretary-General - de Soto - Special Advisor
Nicosia, Nov 2 (CNA) -- United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan has
named Alvaro de Soto his Special Adviser on Cyprus.
His Spokesman Fred Eckhard announced yesterday in New York that Annan
"has informed the Security Council of his intention to designate" de Soto
"who is the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs, his
Special Adviser at the UN headquarters, at the rank of Under-Secretary-
General effective today."
