    Nicosia, Nov 1 (CNA) -- A seminar for Greek and Cypriot Press Office chiefs began today in Nicosia, focusing on the major national issues such as Greco- Turkish relations, the Cyprus problem and the island's European Union accession course.

    Opening the seminar, Interior Minister Christodoulos Christodoulou said that "the Press Offices abroad play a very important role in promoting our national issues and informing the international public opinion correctly."

    Nicosia, Nov 01 (CNA) -- A conference sponsored by the US Department of State and the Cyprus-American Business Association on "Doing Business with the USA" will take place in Nicosia on November 4.

    Speakers include US Ambassador to Cyprus Donald Bandler, President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vassilis Rologis, President of the Cyprus-American Business Association Sotos Jacovides and President of the Cyprus-US Chamber of Commerce Andreas Comodromos.

    [03] House President - Czech officials

    Nicosia, Nov 1 (CNA) -- The European Union accession course of Cyprus and the Czech Republic was the main topic of today's meeting between House of Representatives President, Spyros Kyprianou and a delegation of the Czech Senate European Integration Committee.

    Head of the delegation, Chairperson of the Committee Jarmila Filipova said the exchange of views between the two countries is "very fruitful and beneficial for both sides", adding that the delegation was briefed on the course, the experiences and the achievements of Cyprus in its EU course.

    [04] Cyprus - Mongolia - Credentials

    Nicosia, Nov 1 (CNA) -- Mongolia's President Natsagiin Bagabandi assured Cyprus that it supports the island's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

    Bagabandi made the statement while accepting the credentials of Cyprus' new ambassador to the country, Loria Markides, who was also received by Prime Minister Rinchinnyamyn Amarjargal who said his country is monitoring developments in Cyprus.

    [05] Radiomarathon '99 continues

    Nicosia, Nov 1 (CNA) -- As the first 12 hours of this year's Radiomarathon charity event for children with special needs ended, donations have surpassed half a million Cyprus Pounds.

    The 42-hour charity organised by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and the Popular Bank, opened at 0600 local time with a number of events, including the arrival later this evening of nine times Olympic gold medalist, American track and field athlete, Carl Lewis.
