Nicosia, Oct 21 (CNA) -- The Greek Cypriot side remains ready to attend UN-
sponsored Cyprus peace talks, according to the relevant UN resolutions and
the G8's call for unconditional talks on Cyprus this fall, Government
Spokesman Michalis Papapetrou said here Thursday.
Commenting on statements made earlier today by US Presidential
Emissary, Alfred Moses on his departure after his two-day effort to
influence Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash agree to attend the talks
without setting preconditions, Papapetrou replied:

[02] Radiomarathon - 10 years - Press conference
Nicosia, Oct 21 (CNA) -- This year's charity Radiomarathon organised for
children with special needs by the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation and the
Popular Bank, will mark ten years since its start and will be celebrated
with a number of events in Cyprus and abroad, including the arrival of
former Olympic champion Carl Lewis.
Radiomarathon will take place between November 1-2, organisers
announced today at a press conference, expressing the hope that proceeds
will exceed the 1.100.000 Cyprus pounds (2.2 m. US dolars) collected last
year in the two-day charity event.

[03] Finance Minister - Budget - Taxes
Nicosia, Oct 21 (CNA) -- Finance Minister Takis Klerides today tabled the
unified 2000 state budget together with a package of both tax increases and
benefits.
The unified state budget which comprises the Ordinary Budget, the
Development Budget and the Relief Fund for the Displaced and Afflicted
Persons provides for expenditure of 2,24 billion Cyprus pounds and revenues
of 1,37 billion pounds (one Cyprus pound is trading at 1,86 US dollars).
