NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

LJUBINJE - The Republika Srpska (RS) Prime Minister Milorad Dodik said in an interview with the local Radio in Ljubinje that "the economic situation in eastern Hercegovina is more or less the same as in the RS. Many things have been changed for better and we hope that better days endeed are coming for this part of RS". "Our priority is to engage all economic capacities and to increase employment and the RS Government is doing its best to achieve good results regarding these tasks", said Dodik.

LJUBINJE - The RS Minister of Information Rajko Vasic referring to initiatives on alleged foundation of joint B&H Radiotelevision said that "that is out of the question. Those common institutions, which are not being anticipated by the Dayton Peace Accord are out of the question". Vasic said that with the joined system of the Serb-Radio television an association of informative system began in RS. According to him, in future, a support should be given to local radio stations, in order for strengthening of ties between media in RS.

SREBRENICA - President of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly Stanko Rakic stated for SRNA that accusations against the previous RS Government were unfounded. The previous RS Government approved an irrecoverable loan valued at 200,000 DM to a Lead and Zinc mine Sase. According to him the previous RS Government paid out, on December 10th 1996, U.S. $ 133,000 to the mine for reclamation and launching of production and now it has been accused of transferring the assets.

KRAGUJEVAC - In the Sumadija Municipalities it has been started with a voters registration for general elections in September in RS and FB&H, stated representative of the Commissariat for Refugees in Kragujevac Zoran Todorovic. At the pressconference he stated that refugees would be able to enlist themselves in voters lists or to check whether they were in it, by June 18th.

NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska (RS) Minister of Traffic and Communications Marko Pavic said that a mail line between Banjaluka and Sarajevo started to operate. "Regular exchange of mail between RS and FB&H started to function today, which is a result of an agreement between Federation authorities and representatives of the international community in a spirit of the Government policy of opening to the other entity and the world", said Pavic.

BANJALUKA - The RS and FB&H military Commissions had talks in Banjaluka on demining of territories in both of entities and further cooperation of their armies. "From June 22nd to July 13th a training for work improvement of deminers will be held. It has been agreed for joint courses of soldiers to be held in RS and FB&H and not abroad as it was by now", said chief of staff of the RS Army (VRS) general Momir Talic.

BRCKO - Announced exhumation of 65 Serb bodies for June 4th from the region of Bukvik near Brcko has been postponed for 10 days because of engagements of members of the RS State Commission on opening of an exhumation site in the region of Glamoc - a member of the Commission a major Makso Simeunovic confirmed for SRNA. The occasion will be attended by investigators of the Hague War Crime Tribunal and identification will be carried out by a pathologist Zeljko Karan from Banjaluka.

BRCKO - In the Municipal management institutions in Brcko first 26 of anticipated 65 Muslims and Croats who ,under order of supervisor Robert Farrand, should fulfil multiethnic administration in the city started to work. Borko Reljic a Mayor of Brcko said that the mentioned workers came on jobs that were opened, and their arrival did not jeopardise Serbs in administration.

DOBOJ - The UN Secretary General Special Representative for B&H Elizabeth Rehn said in Doboj that an agreement reached on June 3rd, between the RS and FB&H Foreign Affairs Ministers Milovan Stankovic and Mehmed Zilic with a deputy Jozo Leutar in Banjaluka was an historical moment and an important step in cooperation between two entities. She stated for the press that an agreement in Banjaluka must be fully complied because the international community would otherwise use its mechanisms and ways of conduct for those not complying with the agreement.

BELGRADE - A pathologist from Military-medical Academy in Belgrade Dr. Zoran Stankovic said that it was high time for silence on consequences of the NATO bombing in B&H to be stopped. Every day, in RS and FB&H, people are suffering of consequences of radioactivity. He stated for SRNA that opinion of a group of experts who were dealing with this problem should be publicly issued in the regions where there was radioactivity in order for adequate measures to be taken.

BELGRADE - Coordinator of the OSCE office in Belgrade Zivota de Luka said that refugees from B&H, registered in FRY, could vote only for lists in Municipalities from which they run away once. At the press-conference in the Association of refugees from B&H de Luka said that refugees "have a choice to go to those Municipalities or to do that in some of polling stations in their place of temporary or permanent residence".

BIJELJINA - President of the Bijeljina Municipal Board Serbian Democratic Party Cvijetin Nikic urged on authorities in Serbia and FRY to call off a decision by which the RS citizens are treated as foreigners during paying of the road toll. "No matter signed agreement on Special and parallel ties between RS and FRY in Belgrade our drivers were collected road tolls as well as other foreign citizens. Drivers, for the road from Bijeljina to Belgrade must paid out for the road toll in one direction 65 dinars", said Nikic at the press-conference in Bijeljina.

VUKOVAR - Leaders of the independent Democratic Serb Party (SDSS) and the Croatian Democratic Community agreed on June 3rd in Zagreb for the scheduled session of the Vukovar City Council to be postponed until the next week because stances of Serb and Croat delegates were not in accordance. The last session of this institution has been held in March.

PRISTINA - Yugoslav border guards in the region of border barracks Cestak near Dragas prevented a group of terrorists to cross the border from Albania to FRY - SRNA has learned from the Municipal authorities in Dragas. A group escaped to the Albania territory and one of terrorists has been killed. Automatic weapon has been found with him, along with ammunition and several hand grenades.

PRISTINA - More than 20,000 of Albanians from Kosovo demonstrated in the main street in Pristina calling for the NATO intervention in Kosmet. They were carrying posters written in several languages "NATO- tomorrow will be late", "NATO-SOS- Kosovo", "NATO Kosovo is burning".

SARAJEVO - Regarding request of the chairman of the B&H Presidency Alija Izetbegovic, for charges to be brought before the B&H Constitutional Court, in order for concord of some regulations of the Republika Srpska (RS) Constitution with the B&H Constitution to be assessed , the Commission for Constitutional Affairs of the RS National Assembly adopted a text with a reply forwarded to this Court. At the session of the Commission, held on June 2nd in Bijeljina and presided by President of the RS National Assembly Dragan Kalinic, the attenders unanimously adopted a text in which a proposition has been made to the B&H Constitutional Court for a discussion on this problem to be held. On that public discussion should be invited all participants what would be invaluable for a correct discussion on a series of details, significant for this matter and for a reputation of the Court in the public.

BANJALUKA - The RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik received in Banjaluka a delegation of the Children's Embassy Medjasi. During talks, it has been emphasised that children were the greatest victims of the last war and bigger engagement of authority and the nongovernmental organisations was needed for improvement of the social situation of these children in RS. The Embassy delegation included Secretary General of this organisation Dusko Tomic and newly -appointed UN children Ambassador Kreng Hilburger. They informed the RS Prime Minister Dodik on their activities and asked for a support from the RS Government in its future activities.

BANJALUKA - Vice-president of the RS Government and Minister of Industry and Technology Djuradj Banjac stated in Banjaluka at the press-conference that the Government would make additional efforts in implementing of privatisation, which was a priority. According to him, without privatisation there will be no implementation of other renewal projects and development. "The RS Government made a long term strategy of electrical- energy development by the year of 2015, since huge potentials exists in this area", said Banjac.

DOBOJ - In the responsibility area of the Third Corps of the RS Army and the Second Tuzla Corps of the Muslim Army an amnesty for handing over of arms has been prolonged. The decision has been made on the account of assumptions that in the region of Ozren there were still significant amounts of not-registered military arms and equipment, said the spokesman of the Nordic- Polish brigade Siak Heheim. At the press-conference in Doboj major Heheim said that SFOR confiscated 16 tones of arms and ammunition in 1998 in Ozren, but it was obvious that there were more illegal warehouses.

SARAJEVO - The UN spokesman Alexander Ivanko stated in Sarajevo that all police stations in RS were fully complied with the OHR decision on ban on crossing border without new license plates. The IPTF members stated that vehicles with old license plates were being released across border crossing Doljani near Metkovic, no matter order of the OHR, and on border crossings under jurisdiction of the Tomislav police station.

RUDO - Delegation of the Greek caravan of solidarity distributed 100 DM for each of 47 of war orphans from Rudo. Representative of this delegation Marija Sijabu said that the help was provided by the Greek Parliament, Greek Associations and families than Greeks from Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the U.S. adding that the delegation would visit Visegrad, Rogatica and Srbinje.

BANJALUKA - The Republika Srpska (RS) Prime Minister Milorad Dodik had talks in Banjaluka with the Executive director of the Commission for Property requests of refugees and displaced persons in B&H Steven Segal, on solving of status and property law issues of refugees and displaced persons. After the meeting the RS Prime Minister said that jurisdictions of this Commission were regulated by the Annex 7 of the Dayton Peace Accord, the RS Government would respect certificates issued by the Commission by which problems of these people would be solved more rapidly.

VIENNA - The Foreign Office Secretary Robin Cook, the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik and FB&H representatives will have a meeting this evening in Vienna, where they should have talks on organisation of elections in September in B&H. The meeting will be attended by leadership of the Party of Independent Socialdemocrats, which had organised the meeting. The talks will be held behind closed doors and Bruno Ajgner, member of Austrian socialdemocrats, announced that there was a possibility for participants after talks to address the press.

TREBINJE - The RS Minister of Refugees and Displaced Persons Miladin Dragicevic said in Trebinje that "an official Government's stance is that refugees should stay within RS only if that is their wish". Dragicevic said that since the last Donors Conference, more than usual, a voluntary- principle is in the act,i.e. to choose a place of residence by own desire, what would make possible for all refugees to exchange their property, sell it or get the compensation. Minister of Refugees and Displaced Persons visited Nevesinje today where he saw for himself a conditions that refugees were living in.

DOBOJ - The RS Minister of Energy Sources and Mining Vladimir Dokic stated for SRNA in Doboj that Limestone mine and Limestone factory, for the first phase, required assets valued at 360,000 and for the second additional 1, 800.000 DM, by which reclamation of mine would be conducted. According to him in this phase of revitalizing of the firm, providing of electric energy has been planed for process of production and equipment.
