AMSTERDAM - Although Croatian Government claims that it had amnestied 12. 000 Serbs, in their prisons are still 79 of them detained during occupation of the Republika Srpska Krajina (RSK) in 1995 - is said in the statement of the American State Department on human rights for 1997. In an announcement is said that " Croatian police is still investigating detained Serbs about their conduct during war". Foreign observes assess those arresting as " an attempt of the official authorities to provoke insecurity and fear of Serbian population by which beginning positive effects of the Law on Amnesty have been destroyed".

BELGRADE - The Association for the help to refugees and displaced persons in FR Yugoslavia (FRY) urged on the international community for Serbs from Croatia to have " unconditional and inviolable to return to places that they have been exiled from, and a complete compensation for the lost and stolen property and return of the tenancy rights". A Board member of the Association for refugees from Croatia Stevo Tubic expressed doubt at a press-conference that the recent Agreement between RC and FRY would solve refugee problem and warned that refugees, through their representatives, wish to solve their problems.

BANJALUKA - The President of the RS Serbian Patriotic Party (SPAS) Slavko Zupljanin stated that " the international community and Deputy International High Community Representative for B&H Jacques Klein bearing a historical responsibility for the quite exile of Serbs from SBO". At a press-conference in Banjaluka Zupljanin urged on Klein " to visit this area as soon as possible an to find out for himself about perfidious methods of ethnical cleaning undertaken by Croatian Government against local Serbs in order to move them out".

PRIJEDOR - Every attempt of taking into politics and improvisations in solving of refugee and displaced persons problem jeopardies the Dayton Agreement in total - Predrag Lazarevic the president of Serbian Party of Krajina and Posavina (SSKiP) warned in Prijedor at presentation of " Prijedor's initiative". "Prijedor's initiative" of Zoran Novakovic, the vice-president of the SSKiP Prijedor Municipal Board, represents a plan for return of refugees and displaced persons along with all regulations of Annex 7 of the Dayton Agreement.

ATHENS - " The international community has shown indignant and bitterness with recent speech of the Croatian President Franjo Tudjman in which he had denied existence of B&H as a state and along with it the whole Dayton accord" - is said in a Greek daily " Elefterotipia". "Tudjman has provoked anger of the international community representatives saying that Croatia has done well with helping Croats in B&H during war i.e. Herzeg- Bosna which has been denied by Dayton.

SARAJEVO - The President of the B&H Federation Edhem Bicakcic pledged for the Nation House of the Parliament in Federation, to put on the agenda Government's Proposal on Law on banning of implementation of the Law on Deserted Apartments, which main issue is - return of the tenancy rights to their previous owners. With the new law administrative, judicial and other files brought by the Law in War on Abandoned Apartments would be cancelled , by which the holder of tenancy rights would loose that right in case he deserted it and person that moved in would be considered as temporary tenant.

NOVI SAD - Extremely hard position of refugees and in the region of Becej Municipality has been worsen with a new wave of refugees from the region of Srem-Baranja (SBO) - says "Dnevnik" from Novi Sad. 23 refugees from SBO have arrived in Becej. According to the evidence of the Red Cross Municipal Board in Becej has been registered 2,826 refugees, 694 of them are in the collective shelter while 22 are old persons now settled in the Gerontological Centre. From the total number of registered almost one third are under 18 years of age.

BANJALUKA - Wide region of Banjaluka and north part of RS has been struck by earthquake at 13.09 am with 4,4 degree of the Richter scale and 6,5 of the Merkaly scale and its epicentre was in the region of Teslic and Doboj.
