NEWS REVIEW, REPUBLIKA SRPSKA

BANJALUKA - The president of Republika Srpska (RS) Biljana Plavsic stated that the international community would recognise the Government elected in Bijeljina, expressing conviction that " a hundred days for proving work and trust" would not be necessary for the cabinet of the new premier. In an interview for Banjaluka's studio of Serbian Radio-Television the president Biljana Plavsic particularly warned that eventual forming of some "parallel government or assembly" would be declared as an attempt of founding para- institutions in RS.

BIJELJINA - The new-elected premier of RS Milorad Dodik is staying in Bijeljina, where he will, as he confirmed for SRNA, :have talks with some people about peaceful transmission of the power in RS". However, Dodik did not precisely explained with whom and where the talks would be held.

SARAJEVO - The number of SFOR soldiers, who are patrolling around state institutions in Pale, has been considerably reduced comparing with last night, when they had blocked the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) with six combat vehicles. An armoured car of SFOR is always patrolling around the headquarters of the RS Government, MUP and grounds of "Famos", where, among the others, the Ministry of Finance is located, in which the members of Italian brigade of multi-national forces tried to enter, but they had given up.

DOBOJ - The international police forces will continue the training of RS police in the second half of January, stated in Doboj the IPTF spokesman Andre Anieli. He emphasised that training of RS police was stopped toward the end of July of the last year, and issuing of ID cards as well, which would be continued on February 23.

BANJALUKA - The president of Socialist Party of RS (SPRS) Zivko Radisic assessed in Banjaluka that "RS is undergoing difficult and crucial days", linking that with the events related to constituting of the National Assembly and election of the Government. Radisic stated at the early press- conference of SPRS that " the very deep crisis can be overcome only in democratic and peaceful way, along with recognition of institution of constitutional-law system", adding that the RS National Assembly and Government have a special responsibility.

BANJALUKA - Coalition for the King and Fatherland National Party " Nikola Pasic" began preparations for forming a Government in the shadow with parties which have not entered the NSRS - stated in Banjaluka the spokesman of the Coalition Dubravko Prstovic.

HAGUE - Court trial to a Serb Slavko Dokmanovic, accused of alleged execution of 200 Croats, who had been in the hospital in Vukovar in 1991, have begun before the Hague Tribunal for war crimes in former Yugoslavia. Dokmanovic, who had been the mayor of Vukovar at that time, is accused of crime against mankind, violation of the Geneva Convention and military law.
