SRNA REVIEW OF DAILY NEWS, Aug. 9, 1996Srpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next ArticleFrom: Mirjana Petrovic <almirja@cotton.vislab.olemiss.edu>SARAJEVO - Republika Srpska (RS) is willing to participate in joint bodies, for, since we have already accepted the Dayton compromise, then we want these bodies to be formed and start functioning, stated Momcilo Krajisnik, president of the RS National Assembly, in Pale last night. "Nevertheless, there are certain prerequisites for these bodies to fully function, he warned following a long meeting with the High Representative of the international community for the former B-H, Carl Bildt. Krajisnik placed stress on the importance of having an appropri ate place for holding meetings, especially at these times, "when the question of freedom of movement has yet to be resolved and when many people are still imprisoned". SARAJEVO - High Representative Carl Bildt confirmed last night in Pale that he talked with Momcilo Krajisnik, the presi dent of the RS National Assembly, about the elections, primarily. "We talked about the implementation of the Dayton agreement - the part relating to establishing joint institutions after the elec tions", explained Bildt. According to him, "in addition to a row of concrete issues, we also talked about the possibility that Mr. Krajisnik be one of the RS candidates for the joint Presidency". SARAJEVO - RS government representatives talked in Pale with a delegation from the City Assembly of Brcko about the applica tion of an abandoned property law for the Municipality. Velibor Ostojic, vicepresident of the RS government for social affairs, stated after the talks that this meeting was aimed at providing an equal and common application of the law, placing stress on the moral obligation towards refugees and displaced persons who should be housed as soon as possible. According to Ostojic, the provision of housing by the beginning of autumn for refugees accommodated in collective centre, while individuals who have moved into abandoned houses, should give them up to those in greater need. The meeting was attended by Miroslav Vjestica, vicepresident of the RS government for internal affairs and other ministers. SARAJEVO - A member of the City Assembly of Serb Sarajevo, Jovo Bozic, stated that about 5,000 refugees have signed up so far in the area from Lukavica to Sokolac for 7,000 state support ed construction jobs. In a statement for SRNA, Bozic said that the completion of these individual dwellings is part of the first phase of the rebuilding of Serb Sarajevo. "The RS state will provide all the needed building material and woodwork, while the refugees themselves will do the construction", said Bozic, adding that about 15 similar projects will be offered to refugees. HAMBURG - The Federation and a joint life for Croats and Muslims is only a political decision, while the rift and division are a reality which the Europeans and Americans want to end at any price. But, if they continue arguing with "Mostar's archaic creatures, then they can not succeed", writes the German paper, Zeit. Mostar is, despite the "cosmetics agreements", still too far from political unification, because it remains without a municipal assembly, which might function completely to Croat's taste", assesses the paper's commentator. PARIS - The Party of Democratic Action (SDA) has not at all helped in overcoming the crisis that has been shaking Mostar for a long time and threatening the Dayton agreement, concludes the French press. Western analysts notice that the USA "has done nothing to help in an agreement being reached, but has all the time been spreading confusion about its true aims". BANJALUKA - The European Confederation of Trade Unions from Brussels will commit itself before the EU to offering help to RS in the form of equipment. This is one of the basic massages stated by the European Confederation of Trade Unions high repre sentative in charge of Eastern Europe, Peter Zaidenek, at a press conference held in Banjaluka. Zainedek is paying a twoday visit to RS's labour unions. SAMAC - The American firm USAI will offer financial support amounting to $1,000,000 to a great number of private enterprises in Samac, while the firms interested in this support should submit requests by October 5. The USAI has already signed a contract with two smaller enterprises in Samac, according to which it will invest per $50,000 US in their projects. /end/Srpska Republica News Agency (SRNA) Directory - Previous Article - Next Article |
