MOSCOW - Following the recounting of 89.5 per cent of the votes, it is now certain that the current Russian president Boris Yeltzin and the Communist Party leader Genady Zyuganov will enter the second round of voting. Up to now, Yeltzin got 34.80 and Genady Zyuganov 32.31 per cent of the votes. Zyuganov invited general Alexander Lebed to join him in the national patriotic forces coalition before the second round of the presidential elections in Russia.

SARAJEVO - The Turkish president Suleiman Demirel and the German defence minister Volker Rie will visit the former B-H, re ports AFP. Demirel intends to offer his support to Alija Izetbe govic's Muslim government in Sarajevo, and discuss the current situation in the Former B-H with the CroatMuslim Federation president Kresimir Zubak. Rie will visit German IFOR troops and meet the high representative of the international community Carl Bildt.

ROME - The appointment of the Government of the Croatian Republic of HerzegBosnia and the physical attack on the former Muslim prime minister Haris Silajdzic, in Cazin, will endanger the elections in the former B-H, planned for September, writes ANSA's Sarajevo correspondent. He believes that the decision on the revival of the Croatian entity in the former B-H in the form of HerzegBosnia, is the "challenge" to the Dayton agreement which calls for the disbanding of such as state.

LONDON - The fact that the Croats from HerzegBosnia just appointed a new government, with Pero Markovic as the head, shocked the BBC commentator, who says it is a "mortal blow" to the CroatMuslim Federation. The BBC assesses that the proclama- tion of the new government of HerzegBosnia is an obvious breach of the Dayton agreement, which does not allow or call for the existence of any other entity in western Herzegovina, other than the CroatMuslim Federation.

PARIS - The French paper assessed that the attack on the former Muslim prime minister Haris Silajdzic, in Cazin, as being the "culmination of clashes between two Muslim conceptions in their quest for power in Bosnia". The former prime minister who, following four years of service to Izetbegovic, became a "multi ethnican", received injuries to the head by a metal bar.

SPLIT - Croat economist and the founder of the Social Demo cratic Union, Branko Horvat, stated for the latest edition of the Split paper "Feral Tribune" that the Croats presently live not in a capitalist, but in a "gangster", society. According to him, Tudjman and his company did not fight for Croatia, but for power, money and the generation of hatred".

BRUSSELS - The stolen art works from the former Yugoslavia, primarily icons, gold jewellry, crosses and other valuable antiq uities from the Serbian Orthodox churches, are being offered for sale in Great Britain, writes the Belgian paper "Morgen". The best known group of thieves is a group of former soldiers from Eastern Germany.

SARAJEVO - The Patron Saint's Day of the Republika Srpska Army - Vidovdan - will be solemnly marked throughout the country. The main celebration will be held on June 27 in Army Hall in Banjaluka, while the spiritual part of the programme will occur on June 30 at the Romanijska Lazarica church in Sokolac.
