[02] Options of various political parties with a view to set up the
election date
President of PNTCD, Ion Diaconescu, said on Monday that following talks
with the staff of his party they could agree on the date of 26 Nov. for the
unfolding of the parliamentary and presidential elections. The leader of
PNL - the National Liberal Party - does not agree with the leader of the
Christian Democratic National Peasants Party and supports the date of 19
Nov. as, he further adds, in this way the setting up of the Parliament of
the country and the designation of the new Prime Minister could be ready
before the winter holidays. It is for the same date that other parties are
standing, among which the Democratic Party, ApR, UFD and the National
Alliance. In its turn PDSR - Social Democracy Party of Romania - the
strongest opposition party believes that it would be best if elections
could take place on 12 November as in this way the administration and all
officials would have been designated before the winter interval. The
President of PDSR Ion Iliescu is asking Prime Minister Mugur Isarescu to
organize the elections on 12 November and if he runs for the Presidency of
Romania to quit the position of Prime Minister before his electoral
campaign.
[03] International agricultural symposium at Suceava
Monday and Tuesday the town of Suceava hosts the international symposium
entitled THE ROLE OF FERTILIZERS IN LONG LASTING AGRICULTURE. The theme of
the meeting is very important for Romania as ours is among the lowest
levels of fertilized tillable land of the whole world.
[04] The famous Jegalia sports horses herd could disapper if the Cabinet
does not pay up
The Cabinet of Romania has to help the Jegalia herd of sports horses, say
specialists, all the more so as from 700 which was the number of horses a
few years ago there are now only 249 among them being Balkan and European
former champions. There is no more money and to make matters worse the
drought this year affected more than half of the surface of 500 ha which
was supposed to ensure nourishment for the horses.
[05] Press Conference of the President of BNS - National Trade Unions
Federation - Costin
Dumitru Costin who is the president of the National Trade Unions Federation
said at a press conference that he was very concerned of the fact that
political forces focus their interest on political alliances, electoral
lists and the like while the real issues which are vital for the citizens
of the country are left aside as there are no solutions for the economic
and social issues which are confronting the people of this country. Dumitru
Costin also said that in ten years real salary and the number of people
employed diminished to 50 per cent which endangers social stability. As a
consequence of the situation the leader of the National Trade Union
Federation is of the opinion that factors for stimulating production
increase and valuable economic branches should be sought for while new job
oppotunities must be created.
[06] Effects of the wave of heat in this country
Doctors are of the opinion that no walking in the sun should be taken from
noon to four in the afternoon, plenty of water, mineral water and juice be
drunk. Persons having heart conditions should stay at home and so should
very young children. More than this no chilled drinks are allowed to
persons that have stood in the sun for some time. Umbrellas and hats are
the orders of the day.
[07] Secretary of state with the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Romania about
the National Security Authority
Mihai Rasvan Ungureanu said on Monday that the National Security Authority
would have to issue certificates to all persons that participate in NATO
activities on behalf of Romania. This authority will unfold its activity as
