[01] POLITICS, ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL NEWS[02] PNTCD, UFD and FER are working for the final wording of the new protocol of the Romanian Democratic ConventionIoan Muresan who is the first vice president of PNTCD said at the end of negociations yesterday that the new alliance which is a right wing - center alliance has three dimensions and namely: christian - democratic, ecologist and liberal. In the opinion of Mr. Muresan UFD represents the liberal dimension. In his turn the president of the Union of Right Wing Forces, Varujan Vosganian said that in this formula, with UFD, the new democratic convention of Romania will have an area of voting much larger and deeper than that which had the National Liberal Party. Mr. Muresan said that the new democratic convention is open to all parties that observe the three dimensions and which support a joint common political programme, a sole candidate to presidency and a joint, common political programme. He also said that this offer is also open to the National Liberal Party and to the ANCD which is the National Christian Democratic Alliance which however has to merge with PNTCD. The latter mentioned invitee to a merge however declines for the time being as its President Victor Ciorbea who is one of the former Prime Ministers of the Cabinet of Bucharest says an alliance is all right and a merger is not. The merger will have to be discussed by the National Council of Representatives of ANCD.[03] Interview granted by Petre Roman to REUTERSAs part of an interview to REUTERS the Romanian foreign minister Petre Roman said that after the elections Romania needed a reforming cabinet. The Romanian foreign minister said that he will run for the office of President of Romania and added that Europe favoring forces in this country should unite to prevent the left wing forces to come to power. Mr. Roman also said that he would challenge Ion Iliescu - the candidate of PDSR - to Presidency to debates regarding the beginning of negociations of adherence to the European Union.[04] Standard and Poors is of the opinion that the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and China have vulnerable banking systemsRating agency Standard and Poors is of the opinion that the afore mentioned countries have vulnerable banking systems because of delays of restructure of the banking and industrial sectors.[05] Communique of the Ministry of Food and AgricultureAccording to RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI the Ministry of Food and Agriculture released a communique reading that the home consummer needs are covered by the crops gathered in until now as total figure for consumption to the next crops is of 3.5 million tons and the quantities gathered in reach 4.27 million tons of wheat from 97 per cent of the agricultural area of this country. Specialists working with the Ministry of Agriculture believe that in the fall we will need to import corn as a result of the drought this summer.[06] United States visit of Adrian Nastase, vicepresident of PDSRMr. Nastase told RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI that he had talks at the National Security Council and the State Department, the Pentagon, the Treasury and the House of Representatives.Mr. Nastase said to the reporters of the afore mentioned radio channel that he was told by his interlocutors that the United States will cooperate with any government team of Romania if elected in a democratic way. At the same time Adrian Nastase specified that his interlocutors underlined the fact that strategic partnership with our country could be enhanced taking into account interests of both countries. The PDSR leader will continue his North American tour in Canada. Meeting of the Council of National Coordination of the Democratic party which will approve the economic strategy as well as the political ruling programme which this party presents at the future elections. Representatives of PNTCD and UFD - National Peasants Christian Democratic Party and the Union of Right Wing Forces - hold a joint press conference as part of which they present their strategy in the political and economic domains at the future elections.
