  • [01] Radu Vasile Was Expelled from PNTCD

During the Monday evening meeting of the Leading, Coordination and Control Bureau (BCCC) of the National Peasants Christian-Democratic Party Radu Vasile was expelled from the party with eleven votes in favour, two against and one abstention. Virgil Petrescu will be ad interim secretary general of the party till a new titular will be chosen. Nicolae Ionescu-Galbeni, quoted by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI, said before the meeting he would get back on his decision to resign should BCCC decide to apply all sanctions imposed on Radu Vasile. On the other hand, vice-president Vasile Lupu said he would not vote in favour of expelling Radu Vasile from the party, adding the leading bodies of PNTCD, namely the Standing Delegation and the Congress should be called to decide whether the present leadership should be entrusted with a new mandate or a new leadership should be chosen. [02] Mircea Dinescu and Andrei Plesu Do Not Meet the Legal Conditions to Become Members of the National College for the Study of the Former Security Archives

Mircea Dinescu, PD candidate for the National College for the Study of the Former Security Archives, said on Monday to the Parliamentary Legal Commissions he did not know the "Ticu Dumitrescu Law" prevented him to become member of this College on the grounds of his former Romanian Communist Party membership. "I am punished once more", Mircea Dinescu said, adding he had been expelled from the Communist Party for having spoken against Nicolae Ceausescu, and then had been fired from "Romania literara" for not being party member. Mircea Dinescu said, quoted by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI, he still considered himself a disident of the communist regime, and argued the law should have provided access to the College to those who were not party members in 1989. Andrei Plesu had also been a Communist Party member, so the two do not meet the legal conditions required. RADOR
