[01] Radu Vasile Was Expelled from PNTCDDuring the Monday evening meeting of the Leading, Coordination and Control Bureau (BCCC) of the National Peasants Christian-Democratic Party Radu Vasile was expelled from the party with eleven votes in favour, two against and one abstention. Virgil Petrescu will be ad interim secretary general of the party till a new titular will be chosen. Nicolae Ionescu-Galbeni, quoted by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI, said before the meeting he would get back on his decision to resign should BCCC decide to apply all sanctions imposed on Radu Vasile. On the other hand, vice-president Vasile Lupu said he would not vote in favour of expelling Radu Vasile from the party, adding the leading bodies of PNTCD, namely the Standing Delegation and the Congress should be called to decide whether the present leadership should be entrusted with a new mandate or a new leadership should be chosen. RADOR[02] Mircea Dinescu and Andrei Plesu Do Not Meet the Legal Conditions to Become Members of the National College for the Study of the Former Security ArchivesMircea Dinescu, PD candidate for the National College for the Study of the Former Security Archives, said on Monday to the Parliamentary Legal Commissions he did not know the "Ticu Dumitrescu Law" prevented him to become member of this College on the grounds of his former Romanian Communist Party membership. "I am punished once more", Mircea Dinescu said, adding he had been expelled from the Communist Party for having spoken against Nicolae Ceausescu, and then had been fired from "Romania literara" for not being party member. Mircea Dinescu said, quoted by RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI, he still considered himself a disident of the communist regime, and argued the law should have provided access to the College to those who were not party members in 1989. Andrei Plesu had also been a Communist Party member, so the two do not meet the legal conditions required. RADOR[03] Messages from Top French OfficialsThe French foreign minister Hubert Vedrine, the minister for European affairs Pierre Moscovitchi and the justice minister Elisabeth Guigou sent messages to Petre Roman, RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI informs. The French officials congratulated Mr. Roman on his appointment as foreign minister and expressed their hope Romania would benefit from a considerable support in preparing its joining the European Union. In their messages, the French ministers reaffirm their country's continuing support for Romania. RADOR[04] A Romanian Military Delegation Headed by Defense Minister Victor Babiuc Is Paying a Visit to RussiaA Romanian military delegation headed by defense minister Victor Babiuc is paying a visit to the Russian Federation, RADIO ROMANIA ACTUALITATI reports. The agenda of the visit includes meetings with the Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin and with the defense minister Igor Sergheev, during which issues of the Romanian-Russian military cooperation will be discussed. At the suggestion of the Romanian delegation, the two parts will approach the military cooperation among the South-Eastern and Central European countries.
