countries that had not joined NATO in the first wave should be specified at
the Alliance's meeting in Washington and that the ways taking to full
joining should be clarified. Mr Poos said that there were no problems in

[02] Romanian diplomacy welcomes progresses in the Rambouillet negotiations
The spokesman for the Romanian Foreign Ministry Carmen Podgoreanu said on
Wednesday that "the Romanian diplomacy welcomes progresses in the
Rambouillet negotiations. At the same time, Romania is encouraging Yugoslav
authorities and ethnic Albanian leaders to continue efforts in view of
getting a stable solution to the conflict, based on the proposals in the
draft agreement. The Romanian Foreign Ministry says the new deadline is a
chance that has not to be wasted. The final solutions are going to
influence peace and stability not only in Kosovo but also in the whole East
European region. Romania, who is going to hold presidency of the South-East
European Cooperation starting this March, is very concerned in finding a
stable negotiated solution to the Kosovo crisis. This is why Romania will
back the efforts by the Contact Group, by NATO and EU and by the OSCE".
