[01] Summer School courses organized by PNTCD
At Campulung-Muscel in Arges region continued on Sunday Summer School
courses organized by Christian Democratic National Peasant Party (PNTCD).
In front of PNTCD students were present Minister of National Education
Andrei Marga, president of Commission for agriculture from Chamber of
Deputies Gheorghe Cristea, deputy Alexandru Badea, PNTCD executive
secretary Adrian Stoica, chief of regional administration from Arges Aurel
Teodorescu and ASdrei Ghenciu first vice-president of Universitary Youth of
PNTCD. PNTCD students have asked through their representatives to PNTCD
leadership to allow a representative of Universitary Youth of PNTCD to take
part as observer into meetings of Control, Co-ordination and Leadership
Bureau. PNTCD students also wish calling together as soon as it would be
possible of Permanent Delegation of the party and respect of provisions of
PNTCD statute. RADOR, July 20
[02] Possible meeting Mircea Ionescu-Quintus - Radu Campeanu
President of National Liberal Party (PNL) Mircea Ionescu-Quintus affirmed
on July 19 he would study possibility to meet Radu Campeanu. Liberal leader
has declared he could vanquish his reserves towards Radu Campeanu if this
demonstrates without conditions he wishes unification of all Liberals from
Romania. Mircea Ionescu-Quintus has also said Liberal unification does not
aim getting out of Democratic Convention in Romania (CDR) stressing CDR has
to be re-organized. RADOR, July 20
[03] PDSR will draw up a balance of present governing
Leader of the Party of Social Democracy in Romania (PDSR) Ion Iliescu
declared on July 18 the main party of the oppossition intends to draw up a
balance of present governing from economic and social point of view. PDSR
president considers present power tries - having in view future elections -
to spread its responsibilities declaring responsibility for present
situation of the country would belong to the whole politic class.
Consequently PDSR takes in view presentation in press big corruption cases.
Ion Iliescu has declared all those during meeting of Youth Organization of
the party developed at Amara. RADOR, July 20
[04] Visit to US of President Emil Constantinescu has gone on to San
Francisco
Romanian official delegation led by President Emil Constantinescu arrived
at San Francisco on Sunday being the second stage of visit to US.
Delegation led by President Emil Constantinescu took part on Sunday into a
divine serSice together with members of Romanian-American community at
Chapel God Resurrection from San Francisco. At his arrival at church
President Constantinescu was welcome with bread and salt by leadership of
Romanian House Council represented by Mihai Popovici, Marius Lupan and
Simion Speriatu. According to quoted source president has done a donation
for Chapel and Romanian House consisted of religious objects and books.
Chapel and Romanian House from San Francisco were raised by contributiion
of Americans of Romanian origin from zone building being finished one year
ago and representing an investment of one million dollars. Romanian-
American community of zone is the most prospere. RADOR, July 20
[05] Sovereign Pontiff could visit Romania in 1999
Sovereign Pontiff could visit Romania during next year spokesman of Vatican
Joaquin Navarro-Valls affirmed on Sunday. He accompanies Sovereign Pontiff
in his holiday in Italian Alps. In a statement for press while he was with
Sovereign Pontiff in Italian resort Borno 100 km east from Milan spokesman
of Vatican has mentioned Romania as a possible destination near already
confirmed visits which Pope Ioan Paul II is to pay in 1999 to Mexico and
American town St.Louis in January as well as to his native country Poland
in spring of the same year. RADOR, July 20
[06] Visit to Ankara of general temporary mayor of the Capital
A delegation of Bucharest Townhall led by general temporary mayor Viorel
Lis is since Saturday in Turkey where he pays an official visit invited by
mayor of Ankara. The delegation arrived on Saturday evening at Istanbul
programme forseeing travel to Turkey capital Ankara on Sunday morning.SOn
Monday July 20 will take place a first round of discussions which is to be
ended in signing an agreement of co-operation and union between the two
capitals. Union initiative belongs to officials from Turkish capital.
Programme of town delegation also includes along two days meetings with
mayors from Altyndak, Golbashi and Ienimahal a visit to one of hospitals
from Ankara and to Civilizations' Museum from Anatolya. On Wednesday July
22 delegation of Bucharest Townhall will leave for Izmir where officials of
the two townhalls will talk for concluding a co-operation protocol. RADOR,

[07] "Co-operative Key '98" - multinational military exercise developed in
Turkey under the aegis of Partnership for Peace
In Turkey since Saturday is developed a multinational military exercise "Co-
operative Key '98" into which take part five country members of NATO and
ten countries which were signed programme Partnership for Peace among which
also Romania. Romanian detachment's missions wilS consist in air transport
for staff, exercises of medical evacuation and launching of paratroopers as
well as air close support. RADOR, July 20
