[01] President Rugova Receives Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary
Assembly
PRISHTINA, Feb 3 (KIC) - The President of the Republic of Kosova Ibrahim
Rugova received today in Prishtina Mr. Willy Wimmer, Vice- President of the
Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in
Europe (OSCE).
The current situation in Kosova and the preparations for the talks on
Kosova scheduled to begin in Rambouillet, France, at the end of the week
were discussed.
President Rugova said the situation in Kosova continues to be grave and
dangerous amidst a heavy Serbian military and police buildup and offensive
operations in different parts of the country.
An end to these Serb actions is an imperative now that negotiations between
Prishtina and Belgrade are to start, he added.
The Vice-President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Willy Wimmer, took
an interest in the activities of the OSCE Kosova Verification Mission
here.
President Rugova appreciated the work of the OSCE mission and expressed
hope its activities will be extended to cover other fields in Kosova in the
future.
[02] Solana's Message Delivered to President Rugova
PRISHTINA, Feb 3 (KIC) - The President of the Republic of Kosova Ibrahim
Rugova received today Greece's ambassador to Belgrade, Panayotis
Vlassopoulos.
The Greek diplomat delivered Rugova a message by NATO's Secretary General,
Javier Solana.
In the meeting, President Rugova and Ambassador Vlassopoulos discussed
about the recent situation in Kosova and the preparations for the talks on
an interim settlement for Kosova scheduled to begin in Rambouillet, France,
on Saturday.
[03] U^K Names Its Representatives to Rambouillet Kosova Conference
PRISHTINA, Feb 3 (KIC) - The Kosova Liberation Army (U^K) has named its
representatives to the Kosova conference in Rambouillet, France, schedule
to start on Saturday.
The General Staff of the U^K has named Ram& Buja, Jakup Krasniqi, Hashim
Tha^i, Azem Syla and Xhavit Haliti as its members in the Kosova delegation
to the conference, Jakup Krasniqi, the U^K spokesman, said during an

[04] Publication of KIC's Informatori Evening Newspaper Discontinued for
Lack of Funds
PRISHTINA, Feb 3 (KIC) - The publication of Informatori, the KIC's Albanian-
language evening newspaper, has discontinued this week amidst lack of
funds.
The daily newspaper, founded and edited by the late Enver Maloku, the KIC's
director who was assassinated last month, has come out regularly since June
1998.
The KIC staff spared no effort to ensure that Informatori, the fourth
Albanian language outlet and the only evening daily in Kosova, continued
its publication.
Our efforts to secure sponsorship or co-financing by Kosovar institutions
catering for public services in Kosova yielded no results.
Kosova had in the second half of the past year four daily newspapers in
Albanian: Bujku, Koha Ditore, Kosova Sot, and Informatori.
In December, Serbian authorities banned the printing of Bujku, a successor
to Rilindja, the oldest Albanian-language daily in Kosova, which was banned
by the Serb occupation authorities in the summer of 1990, after 45 years of
publication.

which have been shelled in the past few days, too.
Beginning at 7:30 CET today, Serb forces shelled for an hour the village of
Llapashtic&, a few km southwest of Podujeva, a town 30 km north of capital
Prishtina. The village has been pounded by Serb forces stationed at 'Tabet
e Llapashtic&s' as well as in the village of Peran, 4 km north of
Podujeva.
Five more Serb tanks have been reported deployed today at Tabet e
Llapashtic&s. They had left the Dumosh airfield, which has been turned into
a Serb army base for a couple of months now.
