[01] Majko, Rugova share the same opinion on unlimited cooperation between Albanian and KosoveTIRANE, August 15 (ATA) - By E.Nepravishta: The close and unlimited cooperation between Albanian and Kosove is considered as very important by Albanian Premier, Pandeli Majko and by LDK chairman, Ibrahim Rugova, during the meeting they held on late Friday in Pristine.Rugova thanked Albanian people and government for the aid they delivered to Kosovars during the crisis in Kosove. He said that a close cooperation between Albania and Kosove is needed and he pointed out the necessity to start initiatives for new projects, and mentioned concretely the Durres-Kukes-Pristine road. In the meantime, Albanian Premier, Pandeli Majko, said that the creation of a general positive climate is necessary in Kosove because it will be reflected in the new elections which will serve to consolidation of democratic institutions. Majko demanded the representation of Tirane and Kosove with common interests to the foreign donors, pointing out mainly the Durres-Kukes- Pristine road. Rambuillet delegation should be gathered and should cooperate with the same intensity as in Rambuillet", said Majko. Regarding the latest events in Mitrovice, Majko said that they showed that there are many things which should be reviewed even in our stand as Albanians, because it is our duty to maintain the positive impact we won and the memories of the heros who died for these days". During this press pronouncement, Albanian Premier was accompanied by Veton Surroi. /lh/A.A/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] Majko asks Thaçi to open Albanian mission in PristineTIRANE, August 15 (ATA) - By E.Nepravishta: Albanian Premier, Pandeli Majko, asked the Prime Minister of Kosove Interim Government, Hasim Thaçi, on Friday to open an Albanian mission in Pristine.According to Majko this step would render possible the holding of continuous contacts between Pristine and Tirane. His request was supported by Thaçi. Majko demanded a close cooperation of Kosove Albanians with the international authorities settled in Pristine and promised a multidimensional cooperation with Kosove. On his behalf, Thaçi admitted the fact that problems exist in Kosove, but according to him "they are not unsolved". During the talks held between Majko and Thaçi in the headquarter of Kosove Interim Government, participating was even Arben Xhaferri, reelected chairman of Democratic Party of Albanians of Macedonia, who was pronounced on the necessity of legitimacy of Kosove and democratic institutions there. Majko visited on early Saturday the family of Adem Jashari in Prekaz, where he met the members of this family who had survived form Serb massacres. This visit marked the end of the visit of Premier Majko in Kosove, which is the first visit of an Albanian Premier in Kosove./lh/A.A/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] Fires burn 1 200 hectares of pastures and wood in GjirokasterGJIROKASTER, August 15 (ATA) - By SH.Hajno: Fires have burned more than 1 200 hectares of pastures and wood in the district of Gjirokaster within a time period of 10 days, Behlul Hila, secretary of Gjirokaster district council, told ATA.Hila said that the fires are encountered in 11 communes of this district, where are caused not a few damages. Referring to an official statistic of the wood service enterprise in the district, the chief of environmental regional agency, Stefan Rapi, reports that at least 25 fire cases are marked during the last 30 days. The fire has damaged 958 cubic meters of woods, while the total value of the damages caused by fires is calculated to be 702 000 Leks. The spokesman of Gjirokaster police commissariat told ATA that no responsible person for the garages is yet pronounced. /lh/A.A/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[05] SOROS foundation accords funds for reconstruction of "A.Athanas" schoolSARANDE, August 15 (ATA) - By SH.Hajno: SOROS Foundation has accorded funds for reconstruction of the economic-business school "A.Athanas" in Sarande in the framework of AEDP program.The funds accorded by this foundation are worth $ 95 000 and will be used for improvement of school grounds in accordance with the new branch of hoteliery, which will be opened in September of this year, The director of the school, Perparim Musaj told ATA on Sunday. The German foundation GTZ is giving its contribution on text publishment and in delivering experience for the new branch. For this aim the teaching personnel of this school was specialized 20 days in Germany. The general high school "A.Athanas" was set as a high school of economic-business-hoteliery profile in accordance with the future of Sarande touing region. /lh/A.A/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[06] Guardia di Finanza successive in its performaceDURRES, August 15 (ATA)-By S. Gjordeni, Guardia di Finanza, also in cooperation with the Albanian border police, has been successful in seizing and blocking many persons and vehicles carrying out illegal activity through maritime routes.Official sources of this mission confirm that since its deployment in Albania on November 24, 1997 until August 12 1999, some 376 persons, aiming to illegally cross to Italian shores, have been intercepted and 82 others arrested for trafficking. The speedboats of this mission have been on the sea for 39 100 hours, travelling 74 241 miles. During the patrols the Italian-Albanian crew of the Interforce have sequestered 39 vessels for illegal emigrants and cigarette smuggling. Some 459 vessels of all kinds, of which 20 with cigarette and marijuana on board have been turned back. Around 1 790 illegal emigrants have been turned back from July 1 to August 12 this year and the operative hall of this mission in Durres has signaled Bari and Toronto of 195 vessels which have managed to leave Albanian territorial waters. Guardia di Finanza, besides the operative hall active in Durres, has set up a hall also on the Sazan island, which has helped fight illegal trafficking. /dast/lm/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[07] Transformer plant ready to meet KESH demandsELBASAN, August 15 (ATA)-By M. Lulja, Transformer repair and production plant in Elbasan is ready to respond to the demands of the Albanian Power Generation and Distribution Firm (KESH), the director of this plant, Janaq Jorgji, told ATA.He stressed that two new transformers 450 WA have recently been built in this plant to replace the burnt transformers of the Fibre substation in Elbasan, which supplies 50% of the city with electric power. This plant, according to the demands of the KESH, has turned out 400 small distribution transformers during June and July, while this month it continues to repair seven big transformers damaged in the cities of Shkoder, Tirane, Fier and Vlore. "During the current month our plant will deliver to KESH another 67 new transformers," said Jorgji. Gjordeni, The commando forces today present a clearer dimension of the word state in Albania, Prime Minister Pandeli Majko told reporters today after meeting with the commando forces deployed in Durres seaport.These forces were deployed in the port by order of Prime Minister Majko himself several days ago to strengthen fight against contraband. Majko praised the performance of the commando forces and said that his visit did not aim at simply thanking them but also at giving them wider support. The port does not belong only to Durres but also to the regional strategy for the country's development and this port will become one of the most significant in the region, he said. In conclusion Majko stressed that "this is not my last visit.
