[01] 104 of 224 camps for Kosova refugees in Albania emptiedTIRANE, July 11 (ata) - By G Dilaveri: Some 104 of 224 refugees camps for Kosovars are completely emptied, said to ATA the Emergency Management Group. It added that there are 100-500 refugees in 95 camps, 5 000-1 000 in 17 camps and more than 1 000 refugees in 8 camps.As for the way of their accommodation, from the Kosovars that are still in Albania, 9 178 are in tented camps, 38 401 in collective centres and 82 545 in other centres. Actually the EMG and UNHCR have defined the camp in Rrushbull 2 in Durres with a capacity of 5 000, Fushe Labinot in Elbasan with 5 000 people, Kukes 1 and Kukes 2 with 2 500 people each as primary collective centres for the organized return of Kosovars to their homes. /s.sh/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] Albanian President highlights accuracy of reporting in news agencies- Meidani meets presidents of ABNA member news agencies - TIRANE, July 11 (ata) - By E Nepravishta: The President of Albania, Rexhep Meidani, highlighted on Saturday the role of the news agencies to offer an accurate and fair information, in a meeting he had with representatives of the news agencies members of the Association of the Balkan News Agencies (ABNA.)President Meidani estimated the exchange of information and the cooperation between ABNA members, adding that "we all must try to avoid the repetition of the so-called phenomena of 'Balkanism' and construct a region with high standards of democracy and welfare like those existing throughout Europe, so that our region does not remain a third Europe." President Meidani stressed the need for the creation of modern news agencies also in Kosova and Montenegro. Speaking on the topic of Kosova, Meidani said that "the war in Kosova was also a media fight, with set countries trying to manipulate the public opinion by reporting in various ways, and many a time in the opposite way. He explained that in his vision "two new units will be created in the region and they will be attached to united Europe, will depend on it, and will have their news agencies, members of ABNA." Referring to the past when he was chairman of a Balkan physicians' association, President Meidani said that "then we had problems in accepting newly-created states as members and I hope such problems will not exist among you." To this end, at first two customs workers will start working in the border crossing of Qafe-Bote, explained Angjeli, who opposed the idea for the traffic of commodities from that point, in the conditions when that border crossing is lacking the proper infrastructure. "A new border post too far and without the proper conditions will be used for contraband," said Angjeli. A regular function of Qafe-Bote, implying at first the movement of cars through that point, was also mentioned by the Greek Ambassador in Tirane, Aleksander Mallais on June 20 in a working meeting in the Sarande district council. Adopted as a border point after a joint agreement reached between Albania and Greece in 1996, Qafe-Bota started to function in 1997 only for the movement of people. /s.sh/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[07] DM40 million for rehabilitation of energy networkSARANDE, July 11 (ata) - By Sh Hajno: The regional project BISABU (Bistrica-Saranda-Butriniti) for the rehabilitation of the energy network will be applied with a DM40 million fund to be delivered in the context of an assistance from the German Government.According to the general director in the Ministry of Economy and Privatization, Luigj Pjetri, this fund will be used for the complete rehabilitation of the hydro-power station of Bistrica and for the construction of a new line of 18 km long. The project also includes the rehabilitation of the electric system of Saranda and the installation of electric maters with card for all consumers of electric energy. /pas/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[08] 14 children with viral hepatitis in ElbasanELBASAN, July 11 (ata) - By M Lulja: There are 14 children from 0-14 years old in the pediatrics hospital in Elbasan being treated for viral hepatitis.The pediatrician Kujtim Ibrahimi told ATA that the number of the children affected by this disease a week ago amounted to 30, but as a result of an intensive therapy with daily serums, the number fell to 50 per cent. According to Ibrahimi, the disease is spread due to the lack of hygiene in the city adding to this the high temperatures in the recent days. Every day 50 children come to the hospital for medical check ups, and their treatment on daily basis has facilitated the work of the hospital, said Ibrahimi. /pas/xh/ D'Arc Avenue 23, Tirana, Albania E-Mail: Albanian Telegraphic Agency[09] More than 12 000 Kosovars return home through MjedeSHKODER, July 11 (ATA) - By M.Malja: The total number of refugees leaving for Kosove from Mjede railway station, situated 15 kilometers away from Shkoder city, is estimated to be more than 12 000 people.The spokesman of Shkoder prefecture, told ATA, that the Kosovars accommodated in southern districts have come to Mjede, where they were put up for a night, then they went to the border town of Kukes from where they continued their travel for Kosove. Before the departure, they were supplied with food items and they are accorded health care in the resting centers set up along the national road Mjede-Kukes. The Kosovars repatriated on Sunday are numbered to be more than 500. Thanasi: About 6300 war refugees accommodated in Tirane prefecture will leave for Kosove during the forthcoming week through the organized return.The organized return will continue in the same rhythms according to the schedule drafted by UNHCR and the Albanian government, Dashamir Pellumbi, official in the information office in Tirane Prefecture, told ATA on Sunday. According to him the number of refugees to travel by bus towards Kosove amounts to 500, while 700 others will travel by train for Mjede, and they will be afterwards transported by buses. About 1500 refugees accommodated in Tirane families returned to Kosove on Saturday, but no Kosovars are repatriated through the organized return on Sunday.
