    "KOHA JONE", independent daily, - "Majko and Meta must leave DP and come to SP - Nano." Former chairman of the Socialist Party Fatos Nano attacked Tirana from Vlore, the city of revolts where he took vote as prime minister. - "Moderates: We'll create a new majority in the Parliament." The group of moderates within DP hopes that moderates of other parties will join them to create the Centre Group. - "A prison for minors - Prosecutors." Some parents of jailed or detained minors have asked Tirana prosecutors that their children must be urgently separated from adult detainees or prisoners.

    GAZETA SHQIPTARE, independent daily - "Meidani remains in Rinas." The head of Albanian state Rexhep Meidani could not travel to Austria yesterday to take part in the Salzburg Summit because the Rinas airport workers were on strike. - "Vlora demands from Nano the money they lost in former pyramid schemes." Former SP leader faced yesterday the request of Vlora people to return them the money they lost in former pyramid investment schemes. - "Gaxhai was paid to eliminate people." From investigation made so far, it results that Gaxhai was hired to commit the massacre in Durres two days ago.

    "SHEKULLI", independent daily, - "Majko must give you the money back - Nano." Former PM Nano stated yesterday in Vlore that 'despite my devotion, the present government gives almost no hope in this regard." - "We share the same opinion with Fatmir: No new elections."     [02] United Arab Emirates ready to cooperate with Albania in economic field

    TIRANE, June 29 (ata) - By E Nepravishta: The Minister of Economy of United Arab Emirates, Fahim Al Kasemi expressed on Tuesday in a meeting with a visiting Albanian delegation led by deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta, his maximal readiness to build a concrete platform of cooperation in the economic field between his country and Albania.

    According to the Ministry of Information, Mr Meta asked that the spirit of cooperation in overcoming the crisis caused with the flow of Kosova refugees into Albania, must continue and be materialised through serious investments and concrete projects in the field of economy. He made a presentation of the emergent needs of Albania for investments, especially in the infrastructure, tourism, telecommunication, energy, agriculture, etc.

    They also discussed the possibilities for investments by United Arab Emirates in the sector of oil and for the exploitation of water reserves of Albania.

    The Albanian delegation was also received in the headquarters of the private company "Offesed" by the leading staff and the deputy General Director of it, Mohammed Seif. The delegation presented briefly the projects of the Albanian Government where this company may operate. Offesed makes investments and services in telecommunication, oil, road infrastructure, airports, etc. /dast/xh/

    [03] Rexhep Qosja highlights meeting between political subjects and Kosova provisional Government

    PRISHTINE, June 30 (ata) - By B.Jashari: Academician Rexhep Qosja, Head of Democratic United Movement, esteemed the first meeting held on Tuesday, in Prishtine, among political subjects and the provisional government of Kosova, as a meeting of "special political importance".

    In a statement for ATA, Qosja stressed that important in the meeting was the almost unanimous opinion of all the speakers on the difficulties, the problems they are facing, the way to be followed to solve them and the support for the provisional Government.

    A similar meeting is planned to be held next week where problems that would emerge during this time will be discussed.

    Representatives of Kosova Democratic Union (LDK) led by Ibrahim Rugova did not take part in the meeting. /led/Na/xh/

    [04] Person with fake money detained in Tirane

    TIRANE, June 30 (ata) - By Th Thanasi: A 24 year-old man was arrested last Tuesday evening in an attempt to trade fake money.

    Enkelejd Agolli, resident of Tirane, was caught red-handed by forces of economic-financial anti-crime police, said the spokesman of the police department of the prefecture of Tirane.

    Police sequestered from Agolli 12 fake banknotes of 1000 lek with the serial number BX926287.

    Police sources said that investigation has started into a possible network of the circulation of these banknotes and their origin. /pas/xh/

    [06] Project for agriculture in mountain zones of Korce

    KORCE, June 30 (ata) - By B Fejzullai: The United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD-3) will finance the realisation of a project for the development of agriculture in the district of Korce (Southeastern Albania.) The project aims to rehabilitate the infrastructure in the mountain zones and rural roads, the irrigation system and cooperation between agricultural mechanics and business. The project also envisages livestock breeding improvement.

    Credits up to USD3 thousand will be given to farmers for agricultural mechanics, seeds, chemical fertilizers and agricultural inputs, said Xhengo.

    According to sources of the Ministry of Agriculture, IFAD-3 will extend the implementation of this project also in the districts Kolonje, Permet, Berat and Skrapar, with a fund worth USD18 million. /pas/xh/

    [07] Four-year old hostage freed for 5 million drachmas

    TIRANE, June 30 (ata) - The four-year old girl, Sofije Koka, kidnaped since June 6, 1999 by unidentified people, was released last Teusday midnight, the spokesman of the Public Order Ministry reports.

    The release of Koka, for which the parents were forced to pay 5 million drachmas, was made in a place in Delvine.

    There are not reports from police about the identity of the kidnappers and the attempts made between them and the parents of Koka.

    In the mean time, the son of a Greek businessman working in Delvine, has been kidnaped and according to the press, a total of 50 million drachmas has been demanded by kidnappers for his release. /led/xh/

    [08] Bookshops with books in Albanian opened in some countries of Europe

    TIRANE, June 30 (ata) - By O.Kadaifçiu - Initiated by the "Toena" Publishing House, bookshops selling books in the Albanian language have been opened recently in Switzerland, Denmark, Germany and Sweden.

    The president of "Toena" publishing house, Fatmir Toçi, told ATA on Wednesday, that the "establishment of these bookshops aims at bringing the books published in Albania closer to Albanian emigrants living in those countries".

    Bookshops of this kind are planned to be opened also in France, Greece and other countries where Albanian emmigrants are in a considerable number. /led/Na/xh/

    [09] Rinas: Planes of civil transport start their regular flights

    Tirana, June 30 (ATA) - By M.Pupa - "International airport of Rinasi in Tirana is in totally in function and all the airline companies that perform their activities in Albania started on Wednesday the regular flights according to the defined schedules", told ATA the Director of National Agency of Airline transport Perparim Zuma.

    Two days before the Independent Union of this airport started a strike, which paralyzed the flights of the civil transport, while yesterday after the intervention of the Civil Aviation Directorate the opening of the airport was made possible.

    Meanwhile an agreement on salary increase by 30% , opening ways of further increase during 1999, is foreseen to be signed between the representatives of the Ministry of Transport, headed by Deputy Minister Ahmet Ceni and the head of the airport Trade Union.

    Rinas air entrance is national estate and cannot be kept under control of a group of individuals, nevertheless their requirements especially at the moment after the crisis. /led/linda/

    [10] Kosovars movement to their home goes on

    Bilisht, June 30 (ATA) - By B.Fejzullai - 84 Kosova comers accommodated in Cangonj village of Devolli district made their way toward home on Wednesday by private buses.

    Although their return was not organized the inhabitants of Cangonji village were so kind with Kosorvars and exchange symbolic gifts to each other at the moment of good-buy.

    In the ceremony organized for this purpose many commemorative stones were placed in the village in remembrance of the victims of Serb genocide in Kosova and of the friendship of the inhabitants of this village shown toward Kosova comers.

    Some 2000 Kosova comers are accommodated in Devolli district, a part of which are moving individually to their home, by paying considerable sums of money. /pas/linda/

    [11] Parliament approved members of National Council of ART

    Tirana, June 30 (ATA) - By A.Gjakova - Albanian Parliament approved on Wednesday in the Parliamentary session five members of the National Council of Albanian Radio Television (ART).

    According to the low approved about the private and public media, the National Council of ART has the right to control and implement the low, to monitor the informative programs and to guarantee the fair competition in the field of electronic media.

    The National Council of ART consists of 7 members, 3 of them are of the party in power, 3 other from the opposition party and one of them is nominated by the President of Republic.

    Members of National Council of Albanian Radio Television were Ilir Kulla, nominated by the President of Republic Rexhep Meidani, Pashk Pervathi, the only proposal of the right wing and Sefedin Cela, Albert Minga, Pranvera Strakosha of the socialist group.

    Democratic Party did not present any one and the two seats defined for this group are free till this Party will enter the Parliament. /dast/linda/

    [12] July 1 start Kosovars organized return

    Tirana, June 30 (ata) - By Enkelejda Koraqi - In July 1 will start the organized return of Kosova Albanians.

    According to the three phases plan drafted by AFOR, UNHCR and Albanian Government, the first refugees will be returned their home in an organized way tomorrow.

    According to Colonel Volfgang Greven, close AFOR Headquarter, UNHCR is responsible for the organization of Kosovars return. AFOR will support this organization in the refugees' transport with different transport means.

    The refugees return process, based upon the drafted plan, is a long one and needs a lot of organizations, but, as the Commandant of AFOR mission John Reith had declared, the refugees want to return home within the end of summer, said Greven.

    AFOR will put in disposal all the transport means it possesses, including here buses, trucks and helicopter, as well.

    Some 258 490 from 418 600 Kosovars, who entered Albania through Morini in Kuksi Prefecture, left Albania from June 15 till now. /dast/linda/

    [13] NATO will stay in Albania till humanitarian mission end

    Tirana, June 30 (ATA) - By E.Koraqi - NATO will stay in Albania till the end of its humanitarian mission, told ATA on Wednesday Colonel Volfgang Greven at AFOR Headquarter.

    NATO forces, that act in Albania in the framework of humanitarian mission AFOR with its headquarter in Durres, will continue the reconstruction process of the roads and the infrastructure, by respecting the agreement assigned between the Albanian Republic and AFOR.

    AFOR engineers undertook the rehabilitation of some main Albanian roads, such as Durres-Kukes road, the road of Rinas airport, the one of Durresi post, and other road segments in Albania, stated Greven.

    NATO humanitarian mission AFOR acts in Albania since two months ago. It consists of military contingent of 7000 people. 19 NATO members' countries and 8 countries of Peace Partnership are part of it. /dast/linda/

    [14] Striking workers of Rinas airport finish their strike

    Tirana, June 30 (ATA) - By M.Pupa - Rinas airport in Tirana during all day on Wednesday functioned normally, after the strikers agreed and assigned the agreements topics with the Ministry of Transport.

    After the negotiations between the Supervising Council OF ANTA and the strikers representatives the assignment of this agreement was achieved, where the main topic is the return of the employees to their working place, the salaries increase to 30% and the verification with transparence of all transactions performed. /a.gj./linda/

    [15] A quick integration of education in the market economy needed

    TIRANE, June 30 (ATA) - By P.Shuteriqi: The Conference of Education Ministers of European Union, which held its proceedings from June 24-26, focused on the ways to face the challenges of new century, the directions and tendencies of economic development, as well as on the ways to draft new strategies in partnership between education and economy, Albanian Minister of Education, Et'hem Ruka told ATA on Wednesday.

    Minister Ruka who took part in the pan-European activity, which held its proceedings in Budapest, said that he was optimist regarding the involvement of Albania in the cooperation projects of international organizations and bodies and the counterpart European ministries to find out effective solutions in the process of integration of Albanian education field in accordance with the requests of the market economy.

    Participating in the conference of ministers of educations of EU countries, were even the participating countries of Phare program. Invited in the conference were the education ministers of Cyprus, Turkey, Malta and Croatia.

    Albanian Education Minister pointed out today that other important issues discussed in the meeting held in Budapest were the future perspective of "Tempus", "Leonardo Da Vinçi", and "Socrates" programs, as well as the actual situation and the perspectives of education in Kosove. /lh/A.A/

    [16] Scientific session on Serb genocide in Kosova

    TIRANE, June 30 (ATA)-By P. Shuteriqi, Regional crisis due to the war in Kosova, heartbreaking facts on the genocide exercised by the Serb paramilitary and military police forces on the Albanian innocent population in Kosova were the topics discussed at the scientific session held at the Museum of National History in Tirane, today.

    The participants in the session, organised by the Albanian Institute of Islamic Thinking and Civilisation, once again unfolded the scenes of mass genocide exercised by the Serbs, at the same time focusing on problems the Kosova Albanians will be facing in a near future.

    "It is high time to remember what we have to do for the future of Kosova, not forgetting the past," Ramiz Zekaj, head of the Institute said in his opening address.

    The seminar, associated with a detailed information on the violent displacement of the Albanian population of their ethnic territories in Kosova is scheduled to hold its second sitting in Prishtine. /lh/lm/

    [17] Kukes analyses war damages

    KUKES, June 30 (ATA)-By R. Hoxha, The Administrative Council of Kukes prefecture on Wednesday analysed the situation created in this district due to the Kosova crisis and the damages caused by the Serb army shelling, especially in the border belt villages.

    Making a balance-sheet of these damages, the spokesman of this prefecture, Emri Peca, said: Seven inhabitants killed and dozens injured, eight houses razed to the ground and 850 partly damaged, 13 schools damaged.

    Also, due to the Serb artillery constant shelling, 10 000 inhabitants were forced to leave the villages along the border belt.

    There was also substantial damage in agriculture. Some 1000 hectares of land is unsown and whole areas damaged by bombardments.

    The Administrative Council set concrete tasks to draft projects for investment in the region for 1999 and create all the conditions for the investment that may be offered by the government in cooperation with the international community and the EU. /lh/lm/

    [18] McNamara asks a halt to violent attacks against minorities in Kosova

    TIRANE, June 30 (ATA)-By G. Dilaveri, The UNHCR special envoy, Dennis McNamara, on Wednesday called on the returning Kosova war refugees to stop attacks against the Serb and Gypsy population, the UNHCR office in Tirane told ATA.

    After a wave of reprisals against the Serb and Gypsy minorities in Kosova, McNamara also called on the KFOR forces to take security measures to defend these people, according to Resolution 1244 of the Security Council.

    "Over the past two weeks there have been reports of threats and violent attacks against Serb and Gypsy minorities in Kosova," said McNamara. /lh/lm/
