    ERSEKE, June 26 (ata) - By B Fejzullai: A project of the World Bank aiming at protection of forests, will be realised in the current year in the district of Kolonje (Southeastern Albania.)

    The chief of the Forestry Protection in the department of forest service in the district, Eduard Prifti, told ATA that the project will be finances with 50 thousand USD and envisages the rehabilitation of 2000 hectares of forests.

    Kolonja district has an areas of 35 hectares of forests, of which 25 000 ha are planted with pine and fir-trees. /pas/xh/

    [03] Kosova must become integral part of positive developments in region and Europe - Albanian - Premier

    TIRANE, June 26 (ata) - The Prime Minister and Secretary General of the Socialist Party of Albania, Pandeli Majko, took part on Saturday in the meeting of the Socialist International Council in Buenos Aires, the spokesman of the Prime Minister told ATA.

    At the beginning of his address, Majko thanked the participants in the meeting for the aid and support given to Albania over the crisis in the region.

    "We, Albanian socialists consider a great fate the fact that in this period, the socialist and socialdemocratic left wing which have been in power in Europe and almost all important decision-making centres which demanded and identified the respective response for the one that caused the crisis," he said.

    After making a valuation of the situation of the past three months in the Balkan region and in Kosove, the Prime Minister and Secretary General stressed that "to be sincere, I have it impossible to believe that collective crime and fault that the Serbs consumed during the conflict, may leave space for cohabitation, may leave space for the Kosova Albanians to be governed by Belgrade. The future of Kosova has but one response, Kosova must become and integral part of the positive developments in the region and in Europe."

    At the end, Majko thanked all the parties of the SI and especially the European Socialist Party for the support for the SPA both during the time it was in opposition and now that it is a moving force and voiced his conviction that membership of the SPA in the Socialist International will accomplish the aspiration of thousands of Albanians who have embraced the best values of the big left wing family. /dast/xh/

    [04] Contemporary equipment for medical institutions in Korce

    KORCE, June 27 (ata) - By B Fejzullai: The institutions of medical service in the city of Korca have been equipped with contemporary facilities.

    Ahmet Hoxhallari, director of the civil hospital of the city, told ATA that recently the the maternity hospital received a colour Eco-Doppler which makes all kinds of checking in the field of gynaeocology and obstetrics, with a very high accuracy.

    The equipment worth 32 000 USD has been funded by the European Union PHARE Program.

    Contemporary equipment have also been provided to the surgery ward, to that of pathology and pediatrics and to the first aid service ward in the civil hospital.

    During this year, says Hoxhallari, work is going on also for the construction of the new first-aid medical centre, financed by the German Government with DM3 million, and for the rehabilitation of the maternity home building with a fund from the Albanian Government, worth 150 million lek, and the CE through the Eco Program worth 30 thousand USD. /dast/xh/

    [05] President of Czech Republic Vaslav Havel arrives in Albania

    TIRANE, June 27 (ata) - The President of the Czech Republic, Vaslav Havel arrived on Sunday in Tirane on a one-day official visit. He was welcomed at the Rinas airport by the President of Albania, Rexhep Meidani, the Minister of Defence Luan Hajdaraga, the Chief of the Army General Staff, Aleks Andoni and the Prefect of Tirane, Makbule Ceco.

    President Havel had a meeting with President Meidani in the Palace of Brigades and will visit later today the camp of refugees in Kukes. In addition, he will have a stopover in the Kosova city of Prizren.

    President Havel, invited by his Albanian counterpart, Meidani, is visiting Albania for the first time. /dast/xh/

    [06] Albanian, Czech Defence Ministries sign cooperation agreement

    TIRANE, June 27 (ATA)-By E. Koraqi, Albanian Defence Minister Luan Hajdaraga and his Czech counterpart Vladimir Vetchy on Sunday signed an agreement of cooperation between the armies of the two countries.

    Vetchy, who is on a formal visit to Albania and is a member of the official delegation headed by President Vaslav Havel, was received at a separate meeting by Albanian Defence Minister Luan Hajdaraga.

    Hajdaraga thanked the Czech delegation for the aid the Czech Republic has provided not only in the framework of NATO but also on bilateral plane.

    Vetchy, welcoming the signing of the agreement, said that "in the framework of the Partnership for Peace programme, the Czech Republic is ready to provide its assistance for these countries and in this aspect also for Albania".

    Views were also exchanged on the situation in the region and the peace plan in Kosova. The two shared the opinion that the peace process in Kosova should proceed on the basis of the agreement reached. /dast/lm/

    [07] Meidani says there is more to do to promote relations between Albania and Czech Republic

    TIRANE, June 27 (ATA)-By A. Haxhiu, Albanian President Rexhep Meidani on Sunday met with his Czech counterpart, Vaslav Havel, and said there is still more to do to promote the relations between the two states.

    The relations between Albania and the Czech Republic were at the centre of the Meidani-Havel talks and later between the two presidential delegations at the Palace of Brigades in Tirane today.

    Meidani expressed gratitude for the Czech assistance in coping with the humanitarian crisis in Albania and considered the bilateral relations and the clear stand maintained by the Czech authorities and people on the Kosova crisis as a basis for the continuous strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

    "There is still much to be done to promote economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the field of tourism and energy, " said Medaini also asking the intensification of cooperation between the Defence and Public Order Ministries.

    Havel said this visit was an impulse to the cooperation between the two countries and pledged that the Czech ambassador will be accredited to Albania soon.

    Havel praised the stand of the Albanian government and people in coping with the humanitarian crisis and the constructive role of Albania in resolving the crisis in the region.

    "We shared opinions with Albanian president on the need to strengthen the integrating processes, develop multiethnic societies and cohabitation in the region," said Havel, who invited President Meidani to visit the Czech Republic soon.

    Regarding the situation in Kosova Meidani said that of importance is the implementation of the agreements reached for the creation of a protectorate in Kosova with its military and civil components and added that the elections in Kosova will serve the unification of the Albanian leadership of Kosova.

    Meidani showed scepticism on the future of the federation forms in the Balkan region, stressing that he trusts more in the European federations.

    Czech President Havel arrived in Albania today and besides meeting Meidani he will also tour the camp of the displaced in Kukes and stop in the city of Prizren in Kosova. /lh/lm/

    [08] Meidani says Kosova's future is integration into European Community

    TIRANE, June 27 (ATA)-By A. Haxhiu, Albanian President Rexhep Meidani on Sunday, referring to the new reality created in former Yugoslavia, said that Kosova and Montenegro now constitute two new states in a United Europe, where the state borders will simply remain geographic symbols.

    The head of the Albanian State, who, along with his Czech counterpart, Vaslav Havel, spoke before reporters today, said that a new geopolitical reality will become apparent in the region after the international protectorate period is over.

    "These two countries will be directly integrated into the European Community, into what I would like to call the United States of Europe. But this will take some time," said Meidani.

    Havel said that the future of the Balkans should be seen in the development of the civil society, the enhancement of the spirit of tolerance and cohabitation among peoples, which will make possible the end of conflicts.

    He reiterated that his country will engage in rebuilding Kosova and support Albania for its integration into the Euro-Atlantic structures. /lh/lm/
