    PRISHTINE, Oct 17 (ATA)-ATA correspondent in Kosova Behlul Jashari reports that the Serb forces in Kosova are carrying on military offensives against Albanians despite NATO's ultimatum for withdrawal.

    Yugoslav army aircraft flew on Saturday over Prishtine and other parts of Kosova while the suburbs of Malisheve were shelled throughout Friday.

    The Serbian forces stationed in several villages of the Malisheve commune pounded Dragobil, Marali, Maxharre, Domanak, Mlecan, Llazice, Buhaven and other villages.

    The shooting continued today, concentrating on the Kijeve village and around it.

    Explosions were heard overnight in the city of Podujeve. Between these cities, in the mountains of the Trude village, tanks of the Yugoslav army have been stationed, while armed Serbian civilians of the villages of Bernice e Siperme, Nente, and Jugoviqet have fired shots and provoked the Albanian inhabitants.

    The Serbian army and police are also reported to have taken up new positions in the region of the Zhur village, near the border with Albania, in the suburbs of Prizren.

    Heavy movements of Serbian forces have also been reported in the cities of Ferizaj and Mitrovice and their suburbs. /dast/lm/

    [02] Project of Austrian government for technical-economic school

    SARANDE, Oct 18 (ATA)-By Sh. Hajno, The project of the Austrian government for the technical-economic middle school "Antoni Athanas", presented last weekend in Sarande is part of an interstate agreement to back up several professional schools in Albania.

    "Austrian's support aims at stimulating tourism in this area, through qualification improvement," said Austrian ambassador in Tirana, Arno Riedel, who was present at the ceremony held on the occasion in the premises of this school.

    The "A.Athanas" middle school in Sarande is currently partner in the project "Support to production and trade qualification in Albania."

    It is supported by the German Association for Cooperation (GTZ) as well as the "Soros" foundation. /s.sh/lm/

    [03] Albanian Parliament adopts 176 articles of new Constitution

    TIRANE, Oct.18 (ara) - By Ylli Pata: Albanian Parliament adopted until Sunday afternoon 176 articles of the new draft of the Constitution, while 7 articles have remained to be reformulated by the special parliamentary commission for the constitution. They are expected to be passed by the parliament in the plenary session on the coming Tuesday.

    During Sunday's session, the whole draft of the constitution, which has already been approved in principle by the deputies, was envisaged to be adopted. But during the debate, the deputies asked that three of the articles of the constitution be reformulated by the special parliamentary commission for the drafting of the constitution. Four other articles were not passed also for the same purpose last Saturday.

    The articles to be reformulated are related with the way of the election and functioning of the state high institutions, such as the President of the Republic of Albania, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, and three articles had to do with the transitory provisions of the Constitution.

    On the coming Tuesday, the remaining articles are envisaged to be adopted in a plenary session and the whole voting for the new Constitution of the Republic of Albania may take place. /xh/

    [04] 895 Albanians killed in Kosove in the past three months - Council

    PRISHTINE, Oct.18 (ata) - 895 Albanians have been killed, 512 wounded and 586 have been taken hostage, says a report of the Council for the Defence of Human Rights and Freedom in Prishtine with information on the consequences of the Serb aggression in Kosove during the July-September, 1998, the Kosove Information Centre reports.

    Over the three-month period, writes the report, 583 houses, 42 mosques and other religious institutions have been ruined, looted and torched, while 157 homes outside the warring areas have been looted and damaged. The report say that during the last three months, 2 197 Kosovars have been arrested and 5 171 others have been maltreated. The Council has received reports according to which 450 000 Albanians have been displaced from their houses, and whole villages and dwelling places have been ruined and burnt during January-October this year. The report stresses that still the information is not complete due to the impossible conditions to gather and verify all the reports. /p.ta/xh/

    [05] Movements of Serb army continue in Kosove

    PRISHTINE, Oct. 18 (ata) - A Serb military convoy with 40 vehicles has moved recently from Ferizaj towards Gjilan, while another convoy with 6 tanks and two transport vehicles left Kacanik and has now reached the city of Ferizaj. Also another Serb army convoy has arrived in Ferizaj from Shtimja, the Kosove Information Centre reports.

    Movements of military means and troops have also been seen towards Gjilan, where a long convoy consisting of 100 military means passed through the village Tonkosiq last Friday late. /p.ta/xh/

    [06] Engineering plant of Cekin resumes operating

    GRAMSH, Oct. 18 (ata) - By P Zekthi: Recently the engineering plant of Cekin, Gramsh district, resumed working.

    According to the spokesman of the prefecture of Elbasan, which also includes this district, at present this plant is repairing various weapons gathered in the four districts of the prefecture, following the storming of army depots last year.

    The only alternative for the plant to survive was this proposal made to Albanian President Rexhep Meidani when he visited Gramsh last July.

    The spokesman also said that the plant has now 150 workers and this number is expected to increase if the weapons gathered from other districts where arms were also looted as well in 1997, will be brought to be repaired. /pas/xh/

    [07] Activity in Durres to integrate handicapped people in daily life

    DURRES, Oct.18 (ata) - By S Gjordeni: A championship for fishing was held in the beach Currila of Durres on Sunday with the participation of 50 handicapped people.

    For two hours, the handicapped rowed and fished while sitting on boats. The most outstanding were awarded cups and medals.

    Koco Gaba, president of the Albanian Specific Olympic Committee for the Handicapped, told ATA that "it is the first activity of this kinds held in Albania for the handicapped." /pas/xh/

    [08] Representatives of border police from 16 countries discuss false documents in Athens

    GJIROKASTER, Oct.16 (ata) - By H Cani: Border police representatives from 16 countries met Thursday and Friday in Athens to discuss measures which would help uncover cases of false papers, such as fake passports, dollars and other currencies, vouchers, etc.

    In the mean time, in the border point of Kakavije, southeast of Albania, a group of experts of the Albanian Ministry of Public Order is checking the accomplishment of the tasks by border police there. /pas/xh/
