[03] Macedonian PM favours a peaceful solution of Kosova issue

TIRANA, June 13 (ATA) - The Macedonian Prime Minister, Branko Cervenkovski, declared Saturday in Tirana the engagement of his government for the intensification of relations with Albania and peaceful solution of the Kosova issue, Parliament spokesman reported.

"I am glad that the governments of our countries are supported by respective parliaments for the intensification of bilateral relations," said Cervenkovski during a meeting with the Albanian Parliament Speaker, Skender Gjinushi.

"The Parliament has given the government the necessary support for the intensification and consolidation of relations with Macedonia. The ratification of several important agreements from our parliaments serves this aim," said Gjinushi during the meeting.

"We will hold the general elections soon, but despite their result, the Albanian-Macedonian relations will know only progress," said Cervenkovski.

Cervenkovski said that "both our countries have common aims, that is to be integrated in Europe and in a collective security system through the democratic processes."

Focusing on the crisis in Kosova, Speaker Gjinushi said that the Albanian government and Parliament support the dialogue between Prishtina and Belgrade, but also demand an urgent engagement of NATO, Contact Group and the whole international community to give an end to bloodshed and the ethnic cleansing undertaken by the Serbian forces against the population in Kosova (90% of the Albanian population.)

The Macedonian Premier on his side said that his country has more reasons than the international community to be concerned about the crisis in Kosova, which according to him should be resolved through political means.

"Our opinion is that the Contact Group countries should have a unique stand, no differences for the solution of the crisis," said Cervenkovski. /s.sh/a.ke/mima/mt/

[04] De facto, there is fight in Kosova, says Macedonian PM

TIRANA, June 13 (ATA) - The Macedonia Prime Minister declared Saturday in Tirana that "de facto, there is fight in Kosova," and his country favours a peaceful solution of the crisis there, President's press and information office reported.

"It should be pointed out that the repetition of Bosnia in Kosova, which showed that the delay of the intervention of the international community, rises the price of solution," said Cervenkovski during a meeting with the Albanian President, Rexhep Meidani on Saturday.

Meidani appreciated the courage showed by the Macedonian party in opening the green light for launching the joint air maneuvers with the NATO forces.

FYROM decided Friday that NATO forces carry out air exercises over its territory, an effort of the alliance to show its power against Belgrade to force it halt military andpolice operations against the population in Kosova (90% of Albanian population.)

"This (the existence of the fight in Kosova) has been also considered by the U.S. senators who asked the functioning of the Court for War Crimes in Kosova," said Meidani during the meeting.

Focusing on the development of all-round relations between the two countries, the Albanian President focused on the 8th Corridor, considering that a corridor of the social emancipation of peoples, in response to their request to live in peace with each-other.

Talking about the cohabitation between the Albanians and Macedonians, Premier Cervenkovski estimated the positive tendencies for the development of democracy, increase of human rights to minorities, which should not bring the disintegration of the state," said Cervenkovski. /a.ke/s.sh/mt/

[05] Kosova refugees to be re-registered

BAJRAM CURRI, June 14 (ATA) - By R. Hoxha: The refugees from Kosova, who came in the district of Tropoje (North) fleeing the Serbian violence and terror, will be re-registered.

"Upon the request of the government, the councils of the villages, where the Kosova refugees have been accommodated, also in cooperation with the leaders of local government, will carry out during these days the re- registration of the newcomers. This is done because the number of the persons registered is smaller than the number of the newcomers in reality," the secretary of the district council in Tropoje, Isa Kuliqi, reported to ATA.

According to Kuliqi, the structures of local government have registered so far some 8 200 persons coming from Kosova, while in reality their number has passed 15 000 persons.

"Also, it is not excluded the fact that some persons may have been registered twice because during the first days of their arrival their movement has not been organized," said Kuliqi.

According to the above source, the flux of the newcomers have decreased recently.

"Some 100-150 persons come everyday, who are accommodated in the communes around Bajram Curri," ended Kuliqi. /s.s/mima/mt/

[06] Premiers Nano and Cervenkovski visit port of Durres

DURRES, June 14 (ATA) - By S. Gjordeni: The Prime Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Branko Cervenkovski, was interested Sunday in the great facilities that the port of Durres can offer for the transportation of different goods after the construction of the 8th road corridor.

"We are interested in transporting larger quantities through this port," said Cervenkovski during the visit he held in Durres, also accompanied by the Albanian Prime Minister, Fatos Nano and the Minister of Communication and Transports, Gaqo Apostoli.

The Albanian Premier also said that it exists the possibility of creating a free customs zone for Macedonia in the port of Durres.

For the rehabilitation of the port of Durres (some 250 000 square meters,) the delivery of 23 million dollars, accorded by the World Bank, and 6.8 million ECU-s, allocated by other international financial organizations, will start in September '98.

According to the director of the port, Leonidha Gjermeni, who accompanied the above personalities in the grounds of the port, the capacity of the port after the end of the rehabilitation phase will reach some 5-6 million tonnes of goods elaborated per year, and some 20% of them will be liquid products (on which FYROM showed interest).

"The sea port of Durres is the main gate of the eighth corridor. It is a great fate that the port of Durres is near with that of Vlore (South), but the Albanian-Macedonian protocol, signed on Saturday, will enable the liquidation of the financial debts of the Durres port," said Nano.

Albania and FYROM signed Saturday in Tirana a protocol for the economic cooperation.

"The development of this port is closely connected with the construction of the 8th road corridor, because here it will be set up a powerful metropolis of 1 million inhabitants (Tirana-Durres)," ended Nano.
