[01] Berisha aggravates situation - HRUP leaderBERAT, Jan 11 (ATA)-By I. Manka,The Human Rights Unions Party (HRUP) branch in Berat held its conference on Saturday which focused on the balance-sheet and working directions of this branch. The leader of HRUP, Vasil Melo, asked that the government coalition and the round table in the centre has a broader extension to the grassroots "for a more fruitful performance". Responding to the interest shown by delegates in the political actions and options of Sali Berisha, Melo said that "he is precisely the one who incites and destabilises the situation". Melo referred to the killings and violent acts against the police and state as "the black hand". They are incited by Berisha, he said, also making him responsible for the failure of the constitution, which was turned down by the people. "That constitution, except 4-5 regressive articles, which were powerfully defended by Berisha and which should be removed, is good," said Melo. Sharrexhi, The Republican party is committed to giving Albania a constitution," the leader of the republicans, Fatmir Mediu, said yesterday evening at a reception on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of the creation of the RPA.Mediu also said that the RPA is committed to fighting organised crime and disarmament without compromise, to continuing round tables with parliamentary political forces, to resolving the most difficult problems the country is undergoing and other issues. The article: "No Local Government Elections", says that socialist leaders will speak no more of the possibility of holding general local elections. The Democratic Party's Rilindja Demokratike reports regarding the meeting of the SP Leadership that there will be no more voting in the SP. There will be no dismissal of the Tirane Mayor from his post, the paper cites Prime Minister Nano as saying under the title :"Nano, Elections For The Local Government". Fejzullai, The police units which have been patrolling the Pogradec-Korce road axis since two months ago accidentally opened fire against each other at the two districts' junction today at 02:30, sources of Pogradec district police commissariat told ATA.Sources of the Korce district Police Department say that a Korce police van, patrolling during the night, unexpectedly came under the fire of two cars coming from Pogradec. The Korce police responded to the fire, but later the two police units recognised each other. There were no casualties on either side. The police departments of the two districts make responsible both police units. Keko, Activities in commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Albanian Police, organised by the Interior Ministry began Sunday at the "Selman Stermasi" sports hall in the capital.Attending were Interior Minister Neritan Ceka, Secretary of State Ndre Legisi, the Minister of State close to the Prime Minister, Kastriot Islami, and others. Forces of various police structures in the capital, manifested through physical exercises that the police will continue to be close to the people, through training after contemporary methods and also with the support by international organisations. The history of the Albanian police dates back to November 28, 1912, when after the proclamation of independence, Ismail Qemali announced the country's prefectures and municipalities to ensure the country's peace and public order.
