[01] ALBANIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER MEETS POLISH DEPUTY STATE SECRETARYTIRANA, NOV. 27 (ATA) - Upon the invitation of Albania's deputy foreign minister Albert Rakipi, the deputy state secretary close to the Poland's President's Chancellory, Mr Lamentovic is paying a working visit to Albania, Foreign Ministry spokesman reports today.In the meeting held today, Albanian deputy Foreign Minister Rakipi stressed that now the relations between Albania and Poland must pass onto a new stage of development. To this end should also serve the signing soon of a new cultural agreement. Mr Rakipi presented the draft of the agreement by the Albanian party which envisaged the free movement of the nationals of the two countries. This initiative was supported by the Polish party and Mr Lamentovic stressed the readiness of Poland to back up any integrating initiative of Albania, "because your internal policy has been very successful," he said. ake/kled/xh/sh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] UITUA NATIONAL COUNCIL DISCUSSES TRADE UNION QUALIFICATIONTIRANA, NOV 28 (ATA)- The National Council of the Union of the Independent Trade Unions of Albania, UITUA, discussed Wednesday the trade unions' all level qualification, the UITUA spokesman reports.The president of UITUA, Valer Xheka, said: "For the improvement of our performance we declare the starting of the application of a macro-project for the trade unions' qualification under the auspices of the Italian and Belgian trade unions, an important phase of the trade union programme financed in the framework of PHARE DEMOCRACY of the European Union. The programme is worth some 100 000 dollars. On the same day, the president of UITUA, Valer Xheka, met with Humbert Kambe, representative of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) and Gianni Zamppariolo, its representative in Albania. a.ke/kled/lm/sh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[03] EX-COMMUNIST SENIOR OFFICIALS RECEIVE JAIL TERMSTIRANA, NOV 28 (ATA)- By E.Allushi, After a series of trials of the "Genocide-5" process, chief judge Andi Celiku gave Wednesday the verdict of the court's panel for the nine ex-communist senior officials.The court dropped the charge of crimes against humanity for Mali Miska. Enver Halili and Mehdi Bushati, tried in absentia for crimes against humanity, were sentenced to 22 years in jail respectively, Raqi Iftica to 17 years in jail, Qemal Bregasi, in absentia, to 18 years, Marash Kola to 16 years, Lahedin Bardhi, in absentia, to 18 years, Jorgaq Mihali, to 16 years. Hysen Shahu was sentenced to only four years in jail for abuse of office, dropping the charge of crimes against humanity. The trial of the nine defendants denounced by the Forum of the Independent Intellectuals began in September 16 this year. kled/lm/sh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] U.N. APPROVES RESOLUTION "HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATION IN KOSOVA"TIRANA, NOV 28 (ATA)- The U.N. National Assembly Third Committee, dealing with the Human Rights issue, approved Wednesday the resolution of the Albanian delegation co-sponsored by 24 other countries on "The situation of human rights in Kosova", by 103 votes in favour, two against and 46 abstentions.The resolution aims at keeping the attention of the International Community fixed on the dramatic discriminating and repressive situation created in Kosova by the Serb police power, according to the Foreign Ministry Press and Information department. The resolution analyses the situation of terror and calls for actions to stop violence, which has caused massive departures of Albanians from their own lands, a thing which ethnically cleanses the Kosova cities and villages according to the early inhuman plans of Belgrade. The document, based on the previous resolutions and the report of Boutros Boutros Ghali on Kosova, of the Special Rapporteur on Former Yugoslavia, Rehn, and of other observers of the situation, was largely supported. s.sh/kled/lm/sh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[05] RECEPTION IN WASHINGTON ON THE ALBANIAN NATIONAL DAYTIRANA, NOV 27 (ATA)- On the occasion of the Albanian national holiday, the embassy of the Republic of Albania in Washington gave a reception in "Embassy Row Hotel", according to the Foreign Ministry spokesman.Attending the reception were the U.S. Secretary of Defence, William Perry, the Secretary of Military Marine, Dalto, the deputy Secretary of State, Rudolf Perina, and many other officials. Also attending were representatives from the U.S. Congress, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Washington as well as compatriots residing in the United States. The ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Albania to the United States, Mr. Dilja, in his meeting with the Secretary of Defence, Perry, invited him for a visit to Albania, on behalf of President Berisha. OFFICE IN PRISHTINE -spokesmanPRISHTINE, NOV 27 (ATA)- Van den Pas, spokesman of the E.U. commissioner, speaking of the meeting held in Brussels Tuesday between Van den Broek, E.U. commissioner, and Foreign minister of self-style Yugoslavia, Milutinovic, said: Van den Broek made fully clear to minister Milutinovic that the normalisation of the relations between the European Union and the FRY cannot but be linked with Kosova, especially, with the opening of a European Information Office in Prishtine," the Kosova Information Centre reports. p.ta/kled/lm/sh/Albanian Telegraphic Agency[07] ALBANIAN LOCAL ELECTIONS SHOWED DEMOCRACY AND DP WON CONVINCINGLY - RuffyTIRANA, NOV 28 (ATA)- The local elections in Albania clearly showed that democracy and the Democratic Party won convincingly, the chairman of the Council of Europe, CE, socialist group, Victor Ruffy, says in an interview with Rilindja Demokratike, DP organ.Referring to the Albanian socialist deputies who continue to boycott parliament, Mr. Ruffy holds that "the socialist party must continue its analysis seriously". Ruffy says that there are many cases in the political history showing that the boycott will in the end counterpoise the political forces practicing it. "If I were before the Socialist Party, I would ask it to take part in Parliament, to include in its agenda a real analysis in order to avoid a further erosion in this party", Ruffy said. Then, Ruffy refers to the Kosova issue saying that "from the Swiss point of view, I would like the creation of a status for both the Albanians in Macedonia and those in former Yugoslavia that would enable them to run their affairs themselves". "In the next sessions of the Swiss parliament I will ask the Swiss Foreign Minister to put pressure on Serbia for the solution of the Kosova issue. "The non solution of the Kosova issue poses a great danger of the explosion of a conflict in the Balkans", the chairman of the CE socialist group says". kled/lm/sh/ Albanian Telegraphic Agency[08] THIRD FAIR' 96 OPENS IN TIRANATIRANA, NOV 28 (ATA)- The third fair '96 opened Wednesday in the International Cultural Centre in Tirana .The fair is represented by 186 Albanian and foreign firms. Also attending the opening ceremony was the Tirana mayor, Albert Brojka. The director of the Fair '96 and the president of the EKSPO-KLIK Association, Luan Muhametaj, and the deputy president of "Fiera del Levante", Dr. A. Cuccovillo, signed the draft-agreement of cooperation between the two companies. The fair is represented by Italian, Hungarian, Greek, Macedonian, Croat and other companies which will offer the Albanian market their productions in the fields of machineries, industrial and construction equipment. Zeri i Popullit carries the article: "The 84th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Independence". Lajmi i Dites carries the article :"The Freedom and Flag-vital aspiration and honour of the nation". Republika says that:"The editorial board of the newspaper greets all the Albanians, in and outside the Albanian borders, on the day of the flag and of the National Liberation". Albania entitles its editorial:"Albanians and priceless freedom". Koha Jone also reports that Mother Teresa has been awarded the Golden Order of "Honour of the nation". The paper also carries an interview with Mr. Victor Ruffy, chairman of the CE socialist group, under the title :"The latest elections, victory of the Albanian people". "Usuries - the problem of the day", says Zeri i Popullit, which also carries the article:"The stars enlightened the path of freedom". Republika, under the headline:"Albanians should know where to put their money", carries the article: "Time will show which are the ghost firms". "Police forces of Commissariat 2 in the capital arrested yesterday two close relatives of super criminal Nehat Kulla who had been declared wanted since 18 months and who are practically accused of killing in complicity", Albania says. "Italian ambassador Foresti warns Italian investors against involvement in usuries", Koha Jone says, while VEFA says that usuries will continue", the paper says.
