[01] BERISHA PRESENTS CANDIDATES FOR LOCAL VOTETIRANA, OCT. 12 (ATA) - By Zamir Mulaj: Albanian President Sali Berisha continued Saturday the campaign for local government elections in the districts of Puka and Bulqiza, Northern Albania, presenting the DP candidates for mayors and commune chairmen.In all the meetings President Berisha guaranteed the inhabitants that the DP local government in the coming four years will have as its main obligation the solution of the people's problems. In Peshkopi, Berisha declared the candidate of the Democratic Party for mayor in that city, Mentor Bunguri. Berisha said that DP will realise the privatization of the enterprises of Dibra, even by special decisions, so that new jobs be created. He also promised credits for Dibra farmers, order and tranquillity, medical care, the free movement of people, education, etc. In the commune of Maqellara, Berisha presented the DP candidate for commune chairman Novruz Skuka. In the district of Bulqiza, in the village of Shupenza and that of Gjoeice, President Berisha presented the candidates of DP for chairman of commune, respectively Agim Xhafa and Xhelal Mero. In the town of Bulqiza, Berisha presented the DP candidate for mayor, Eng. Hamza Gura. The President stressed the advantages of the new law on local vote and especially the financial decentralization of the local government. The efforts to reach an agreement on a joint venture between the mine of Bulqiza and the German firm Proisag, were considered by Berisha as an undeniable success of the Democratic Government. On the same day, Berisha presented in Rreshen the DP candidate for mayor Gjon Pjetri. Berisha continued meetings in the district of Mat, where he presented the DP candidates for chairman of commune and municipality. In the commune of Klos, President Berisha presented the DP candidate for commune chairman Isuf Qipi. He stressed that one of the main projects of the next four years will be the construction of the Klos-Tirana road which will give new impulse to the development of the country and other Albanian areas. In a meeting held in the city of Burrel, Berisha presented the DP candidate for mayor, Jarosllav Alla. kei/xh/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[02] SERBIAN PATRIARCH PAVLE IN KOSOVAPRISHTINE, OCT. 12 (ATA) - Serbian patriarch Pavle traveled in Kosova yesterday. He will attend for three days the religious ceremonies in Lumemadh of Vushtri, in Prizren and in the Patriarchate of Peja, Politika paper of Belgrade reports today.On this occasion, a Serbian Orthodox church is expected to be inaugurated in Lulemadh. Cameria is a region in the extreme south of the territories inhabited by Albanians. By a decision of the Ambassadors' Conference in 1913 Cameria was given to the Greek state. ssh/jz/xh/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[04] PRESS REVIEWTIRANA, OCT. 13 9ATA) - Rilindja demokratike makes coverage of the meetings of Albanian President Sali Berisha in Dibra, Bulqiza, Mat and Rreshen, to present the candidates of the Democratic Party for local government, under the title "DP honours the free vote of the Albanians." The paper also writes on an observation by the association "For a Democratic Culture" regarding the electoral campaign coverage on TV, saying that "Albanian television has favoured the opposition regarding the time on TV."Zeri i Popullit carries an interview with the socialist leader of this party Fatos Nano, serving a prison term for corruption and falsification of documents, under the title "We shall be firm and invulnerable in face of 'every May 26' of Berisha." The papers also write on the presentation of socialist candidates for local government elections in various districts. Republika writes: "The state terrorized by transparence - whereas nationals suffer lack of transparence by the state." The paper also carries a story on two drunken people who have attacked and stabbed passers- by. The Centre Pole paper writes: "301 foreign observers in local vote," and reflects the meetings of the Centre Pole leaders in Lushnja, Koplik, Berat and Fier to present the candidates for the local vote on October 20. Albania writes: "Light on the mystery of thefts in the Savings bank and the Vlora bank - Gang of plunderers arrested." Koha Jone writes: "The balance sheet of the local elections: 175 thousand fictive names registered, 315 ballots more," whereas Dita Informacion carries an article with opinions by writer Dritero Agolli under the title "Angels in tribune, devils in the polling boxes." Tribuna carries an interview with the DP chairman, Tritan Shehu, under the title "British conservatives are on our side," referring to his recent visit to the Great Britain. Gazeta Shqiptare writes that the person who had stolen the valuable Gllavenica epitaph, recently caught by police, suspects his girlfriend has disclosed the secret. kei/xh/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[05] 64 GRAVES VIOLATED IN KOSOVA- Serbian installed bodies keep silence - PRISHTINE, OCT.12 (ATA) - 64 graves were violated last night in Peja by unidentified vandals. The graves were those of distinguished Albanian figures such as Haxhi Zeka, Ali Pashe Gucia and others.The graves are in the yards of five mosques of the city. Also another Moslem building was damaged and its door set on fire. The U.S. Office in Prishtine has been informed of these vandal acts. After these events, the Albanian population gathered in the damaged spots, whereas in the Peja streets Serbian police movements intensified. Serbian bodies installed in Kosova have not made any report on the authors whereas Albanian public opinion considers these acts as political provocations towards the Albanian population. bj/lind/xh/k Albanian Telegraphic Agency[06] GANG OF THIEVES ARRESTED BY POLICETIRANA, OCT. 13 (ATA) - Albanian police arrested Saturday afternoon the members of a gang of thieves who had stolen the Savings Bank in Tirana and an affiliate of the Albanian Bank in Vlora, writes Albania paper today, referring to sources of the Interior Ministry.According to these sources, besides the authors of the thefts, police have now all the scheme of thefts and the arsenal of weapons used. Some of the weapons for the crimes have been uncovered in the sea after rapid police forces operations. Sources confirmed that the people caught by police are the real thieves but they did not disclose their names for sake of investigation, the paper writes. The theft of the Savings Bank was realised on January 23, 1993 and the amount of money taken was 306 thousand dollars.
